Today, the presence of two or more TVs is no longer a rarity. However, when they are used together, a number of problems arise, for example, with connecting an antenna or a VCR / video player. The proposed two devices make it relatively easy to solve them.

"LOW FREQUENCY" AUDIO AND VIDEO SPLITTER

A splitter can be used if, for some reason, a VCR or video player cannot be connected to two or more TVs via antenna inputs, i.e., at a "high frequency". It allows you to connect them at the so-called "low" frequency.

Although in [1] a similar device has already been considered, however, it has disadvantages that limit its wide repetition: the presence of a rare (especially for the province) imported microcircuit and bipolar power supply.

The device described here, the schematic diagram of the video channel of which is shown in Fig. 1 is easier to manufacture than the one mentioned above. It should be said, of course, about the audio channel. It is known that the audio output of a VCR or video player is designed for a load whose resistance exceeds 1 kOhm. Such an audio output is connected directly to the parallel-connected audio inputs of TVs, the input impedance of which is 47 ... 50 kOhm. Therefore, the audio channel is not shown in Fig. 1.

However, the video output of a VCR or video player is rated for 75 ohms, which corresponds to only one video input. Therefore, to connect two or more TVs, an isolation is required. For this purpose, two emitter followers are used similarly [2]. Their input impedance is high, so you can increase their number and connect up to six TVs.

To replace the KT972A transistors, any of the same series, as well as from the KT927, KT940 series, are suitable.

Resistors MLT, S2-33, S2-23 or similar and oxide capacitors K50-6, K50-16 or imported can be used in the device. The 12 V power supply must be rated for at least 100 mA.

The splitter is connected to the video equipment with a shielded cable through "tulip" connectors. A thin RK-75 antenna cable is also suitable.

IR REPEATER

This device can be used if the VCR/Video Player is already permanently connected via a splitter to two TVs in different rooms as shown in fig. 2. It is necessary to control the equipment with the remote control, being both in one and in another room.

The advantage of the repeater is that it fits all remote control standards Using the repeater, you can not only control the VCR/video player while playing a video, but also control the video in another room. You can also control both TVs.

The repeater receives the IR signal from the remote control of the VCR/video player or TV in one room, amplifies it and emits it in the second room where this equipment is installed. The signal is sent from one room to another via a cable, as shown in Fig. 2.

The repeater's IR receiver is placed in the room where the VCR/video player is supposed to be controlled. The repeater uses an industrial IR receiver PI-5, which is used in TV sets of the fourth and fifth generations. Any other industrial or home-made IR receiver without demodulation is also suitable (this is important), for example, on a TVA2800 or KR1056UP1 chip.

A variant of the circuit diagram of the device when using the PI-5 IR receiver is shown in fig. 3,a, and when using a receiver assembled on a TVA2800 chip, - in fig. 3,6. From the output of the IR receiver, the signal goes to the IR transmitter, made on one transistor, two resistors (VT6, FM5, R16 - in Fig. 3, a, VT1, R1, R3 - in Fig. 3, b) and LED HL1. The NI IR emitter is placed in a room containing a VCR/video player and one of the TVs, and it must be pointed at the object and rigidly fixed. The mounting location is chosen so that no one can accidentally interfere with the passage of the IR signal (for example, high on the wall under the ceiling). The emitter is connected to the device with any shielded cable.

In the device, the KT814A transistor can be replaced with any of the KT816, KT818 series. IR emitter AL156A can be replaced by any of the series AL 147, AL 165. Resistors MLT, S2-33, S2-23 or similar can be used in the device.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Artificial muscle made of crystalline plastic 19.07.2019

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a class of lightweight solid materials in which simple organic building blocks, such as carbon-containing molecules, are bonded to boric acid or aldehyde groups, with covalent bonds. In general, in its composition, this material does not differ from conventional plastics, but at the molecular level it has a completely different structure. If in solid plastics the polymer chains of molecules are connected randomly, then in COF they form a crystalline structure. Pores form between these chains, making the material very light.

COF can be used to store gas (such as hydrogen) and to deliver drugs. However, these scaffolds usually exist as nano- or micro-sized crystalline powders—they are brittle and cannot be made into the larger sheets or membranes that would be useful for many practical applications. Scientists have tried to improve the mechanical properties of COF by using linear polymers as building blocks.

Researchers in China and the US have created polymeric covalent organic scaffolds (polyCOF) based on the existing COF structure, but during the synthesis of the compound, they added polyethylene glycol (PEG) to the reagents. The PEG chains occluded the porous space of the COF, creating a more compact, stronger, and more stable structure. Unlike conventional scaffolds, polymer scaffolds can be incorporated into flexible membranes that can be repeatedly flexed, twisted, or stretched without damage.

To demonstrate how polyCOF could be used as an artificial muscle, the team made a foil puppet to which the resulting membrane was attached. Under the influence of ethanol vapors, the doll "sat down", and when the vapors stopped later, she lay back down. The researchers repeated these steps several times, causing the doll to bend. Expanding the pores of polyCOF under the influence of the gas likely explains the doll's gymnastic "ability", the researchers said.
