When shooting amateur videos, it is not always possible to get good sound quality and content. To correct it when dubbing from a video camera to a VCR, the device proposed for repetition was developed.

An audio mixer allows you to feed a signal to the audio input of a VCR from both a video camera and an additional sound source, such as a player or microphone (the latter is best used with your own amplifier), and also provides an overlay of one signal on another. If necessary, the device can increase the signal level from the video camera by 10 dB.

The schematic diagram of the device is shown in the figure.

Audio mixer for camcorder

The signal from the video camera is fed to input 1, and from an additional sound source - to input 2. From the sliders of the corresponding control resistors R1 and R14 through capacitors C2 and C7, the signals are fed to amplifiers assembled on transistors VT1 and VT2, respectively.

Amplified signals pass through a controlled divider R7R8R20 to a mixer made with resistors R9, R10. It is loaded through the capacitor C4 on the emitter follower, made on the transistor VT3. The latter reduces the output impedance of the device.

The controlled divider R7R8R20 is a regulator of the ratio of signals applied to the inputs of the device. The adjusting resistor R8 changes the mutual levels of signals from the video camera and an additional sound source coming to the output of the audio mixer.

In the event that the R7R8R20 ratio controller allows only one of the signals to be recorded (in the extreme positions of the variable resistor R8 engine), to control the second signal, the device has a power amplifier assembled on a DA1 chip, to the antiphase outputs of which a sound emitter is connected - a dynamic head BA1 or headphones, which are even more convenient. The controlled signal is selected by the switch SA1. The R21R22 divider provides the required volume level.

The device can be powered both from a network unit and from a galvanic battery ("Krona").

The audio mixer uses fixed resistors MLT and variable resistors SPZ-4aM. Capacitors C10, C11 - KM-6 or similar, the rest are oxide - K50-35. KT315V transistors are interchangeable with any of the KT315, KT3102 series. Instead of the KR1064UN2 chip, you can use EKR1436UN1. They are discussed in the article by D. Turchinsky "Audio frequency amplifiers EKR1436UN1 and KR1064UN2 ("Radio", 1998, No. 5, pp. 61, 62). Other microcircuits can also be used, for example, K174UN4.

Setting up the device comes down to obtaining a voltage of 4,5 V at the collector of the transistor VT1 by selecting the resistor R2 and the desired volume level in the sound emitter BA1 by selecting the resistor R22. However, before achieving the latter, it is necessary to set the nominal levels of the input signals, for which the variable resistors R1 and R14 serve. The easiest way to do this is experimentally by ear by the volume of the sound reproduced by the TV. First, they remember the subjective sound volume level when listening to a television program. Then, a signal is sent to the sound input of the TV from the output of the audio mixer, having previously connected signal sources to its inputs and turned them on. By moving the slider of the variable resistor R8 alternately first to one and then to the other extreme position, the signal is selected from the video camera (the slider according to the diagram below) or from an additional sound source (the slider at the top), and resistors R1 and R14, respectively, set the same subjective volume level, as when listening to a television program.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Ultrabook from ASUS 22.11.2011

ASUS has unveiled a 17mm thin ultrabook laptop model and plans to launch the device in retail sales as early as December this year. The novelty is equipped with a 13,3-inch display with a resolution of 1600x900 pixels and LED backlight.

The "heart" of the ultrabook was the dual-core processor Intel Core i5-2557M with a nominal frequency of 1,7 GHz. In the "Turbo Boost" mode, its value can be raised up to 2,7 GHz. Among the interfaces, we note the presence of modern high-speed USB 3.0 data transfer ports, as well as microHDMI and Mini DisplayPort connectors. The body of the ultrabook itself is made of metal, which makes it very durable and gives a stylish look.

The disadvantage of such laptops is the non-removable battery - it will be quite problematic to replace it on your own. ASUS reports that the price of the base ultrabook model for Europe will be about ?1000.
