Shortwave radio amateurs have long used the T2FD broadband antenna (Top terminated folder dipole - a loop vibrator loaded at the top) in their practice [1]. It is very similar to the classic loop vibrator, except for the load resistor Rn introduced into the middle of the upper part, as shown in Fig. 1.

The figure shows that the antenna is smaller than a half-wave dipole. It is calculated on the lowest frequency television broadcast channel received in a particular area. With a load resistor of 700 ... 750 ohms, the input impedance of the antenna is 675 ohms, therefore, to match with a 75-ohm feeder, a Tcc transformer balancing-matching system with a transformation ratio of 9 is used.

The transformer balancing-matching system is made according to the scheme shown in fig. 2, and consists of three RF transformers T1-T3. Their windings are wound simultaneously with two PEV-2 wires with a diameter of 0,5-0,7 mm on ferrite rings with a magnetic permeability of 20 VCh and an outer diameter of 10-12 mm. They contain ten turns. You can also use the so-called "binoculars" - matching devices from television antennas "Taiga" and the like. Those who want to independently calculate the balancing-matching system can use the relations indicated in [2, 3].

For example, the antenna for receiving TV programs from the 4th channel of meter to the 30th channel of decimeter waves is made of copper wire with a diameter of 2,5 mm, as shown in Fig. 3. On a plate of one-sided foil fiberglass with a thickness of 2 mm and dimensions of 130x70 mm, areas are cut out, to which halves of the vibrator, a load resistor, HF transformers of the balancing-matching system and a feeder are soldered.

The load resistor (its dissipation power does not matter) with a resistance of 750 Ohm and the balancing-matching system must be closed with a dielectric cover to protect it from atmospheric precipitation. In order to increase rigidity, on each half of the vibrator, plates with dimensions of 48x20 mm are installed from one-sided foiled fiberglass, on which the foil is removed in the middle, and the vibrator halves are soldered to the edges. The cable is secured with two clamps. The antenna is screwed to the wooden mast with four M3 screws. As a rule, the antenna does not need to be tuned.

Five such antennas were made. They are placed on the roofs of houses. All meter channels and part of decimeter channels are received with good quality at a distance of 10 km from the TV center.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The snake generates energy 05.12.2006

Off the northern coast of Portugal, three modules are being tested to generate electricity from sea waves. The device, about four railway cars long and 3 meters in diameter, invented in Scotland, consists of three articulated sectors. They are anchored at a depth of 50-60 meters a few kilometers from the coast and connected to the land by a power cable.

When this chain bends on the water as the crest of the wave passes, oil is pumped inside, its flow rotates hydraulic motors connected to an electric generator. The power of one "snake" is 750 kilowatts.

If the tests are successful, a whole power plant with a capacity of 24 megawatts will be deployed here, which will be able to power the town for 12 apartments or single-family houses.
