When creating transistorized KB transmitters, radio amateurs face difficulties in designing band power amplifiers. If you use conventional resonant amplifiers, to obtain an output power of 1-1,5 W (with an input of 0,3-0,6 mW), you will need several stages that need to be switched. The use of cascode broadband amplifiers with a choke load on multi-emitter transistors makes it possible to significantly simplify the amplifier circuit and makes it possible to obtain a high gain.

On fig. 1 shows a diagram of such an amplifier. It has a power gain of up to 16 dB in the frequency range from 3 to 35 MHz with a non-uniformity of no more than 2,5 dB. The output power was determined by an M3-3A power meter with an input impedance of 75 ohms.

The amplifier operates in class A mode. The initial current (80-90 mA) is set by selecting resistors R2. R3. At the connection point of the collector of transistor V1 with the emitter of transistor V2, the voltage should be from half to two thirds of the supply voltage Uк. Thermal stabilization is carried out using the chain R4, C5. If the amplifier will be operated at a constant temperature (indoor operation), then its use is not necessary. In the absence of a chain, the output power increases slightly.

The amplifier can also work in class AB, for which the initial current is reduced to 2-3 mA by selecting resistors R20, R30, but the power gain decreases.

It should also be noted that this amplifier can operate at frequencies up to 300 MHz, but already at 250 MHz its gain drops to 10 dB.

The amplifier used a factory inductor L1 type D-0,12 with an inductance of 43 μH, but it can be replaced with a home-made one. In the case of use at high frequencies (above 100 MHz), the choke can be wound on MLT-0,5 resistors with a resistance of more than 1 kOhm with a PEV-2 wire 0,2 turn to turn until filled.

The best results can be obtained when using transformers with a short-circuited volume turn as a load. The diagram of switching on transformers is shown in fig. 2, drawing of transformers - in fig. 3. The connection between their magnetic fluxes is carried out by a short-circuited volumetric coil. made in the form of a rod soldered to the covers of a brass cylinder.

Cascode broadband power amplifier

Each of the windings is wound on a K10x6x3 core made of 1000NM-9 ferrite. The winding of the transformer T1 contains 12 turns of wire PEV-2 0,31, the transformer T2 - 5-7 turns of wire PEV-2 0,64. The transformer housing is connected to a common wire. The dependence of the output power on the input for the second amplifier is shown in fig. 4, and the dependence of the maximum output power on the magnitude of the collector voltage at a constant input power - in Fig.5. Good results have been obtained by amplifying a single-sideband signal. It should be noted that when using more powerful transistors, for example, KT904, the amplifier at output power (Pout> 2 W) is prone to self-excitation, however, when the gain is reduced, it works quite stably.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Virtual reality cures fear of heights 17.07.2018

Fear of heights is one of the most common phobias in the world. And now a group of European researchers have found a new way to treat it that doesn't require going to the doctor or going up to the roof.

The researchers used 100 volunteers for the experiments, all of whom were previously diagnosed with a fear of heights, but they did not receive any treatment for their problem. The researchers then divided the volunteers into two groups. 51 volunteers were sent to the control group, while 49 people were given the opportunity to undergo a two-week virtual reality treatment (47 people agreed to the offer and 44 completed it). The scientists published the results of the study in The Lancet Psychiatry.

During the program, volunteers used a virtual reality helmet along with a "virtual trainer" for six sessions, each lasting approximately 30 minutes. The automated trainer asked them questions about their fear of heights and told them facts about their phobia. He then took the subjects through a series of virtual scenarios to help people address their fear. In the scenarios, people were in different situations: for example, they could throw a ball over a roof parapet or save a cat from a tree. At the end of each session, the trainer asked people how they were feeling and encouraged them to face their fear in the real world between sessions.

All participants filled out questionnaires about how intense their fear of heights was before the test, two weeks later (that is, shortly before the end of the virtual sessions), and two weeks after the experiment. By the end of the trial, 34 of the 49 volunteers said their fear was much less. In all participants in the control group, the level of fear remained unchanged.

This and other examples show that VR can help people with mental health problems. However, this is only the first trial to show that virtual reality treatment can produce the desired results without the help of a trained (and potentially expensive) therapist. According to the study's lead author, Daniel Freeman, the new technology could increase the number of people who receive the psychological help they need, not only for fear of heights, but also for other disorders. At least, the researchers themselves do not intend to dwell on acrophobia alone.
