It has an output power of 60 W with a single +40 V power supply. Getting a large output power is associated with a number of difficulties, one of which is the limitation of the power supply voltage, due to the fact that the range of high-voltage power transistors is still quite small. One of the ways to increase the output power is the series-parallel connection of the same type of transistors, but this complicates the design of the amplifier and its tuning. Meanwhile, there is a way to increase the output power, avoiding the use of hard-to-reach elements and not increasing the voltage of the power supply. This method consists in using two identical power amplifiers connected so that the input signal is applied to their inputs in antiphase, and the load is connected directly between the outputs of the amplifiers (amplifier bridge circuit).

A power amplifier made according to such a bridge circuit has the following main technical characteristics:

Rated output power ...... 60 W
Harmonic distortion .......... 0,5%
Operating frequency band .......... 10... 25 Hz
Supply voltage ........... 40 V
Quiescent current .......... 50 mA

A schematic diagram of such an amplifier is shown in Fig. 1. Changing the phase of the input signal is achieved by applying it to the inverting input of one and the non-inverting input of another amplifier. The load is connected directly between the outputs of the amplifiers. To ensure temperature stabilization of the quiescent current of the output transistors, diodes VD1-VD4 are placed on a common heat sink with them.

Before turning on, check the correct installation and connections of the amplifier. After connecting the power supply with resistor R14, a voltage of no more than 0,5 V is set between the outputs of the amplifier. The amplitude-frequency and phase-frequency characteristics of the adjusted amplifier are shown in Fig. 2.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Wrist atomic clock 08.10.2013

The American watch company Bathys Hawaii presented the first watch with an atomic precise time source Cesium 133 (cesium-133 atom is used as a standard).

A watch measuring 60x50x23 mm provides a rate accuracy with a maximum deviation of one second per thousand years (the frequency accuracy of an atomic source is 5x10^-11). The creators of the watch estimated the serial model at 12 thousand dollars apiece. A total of 2014 Cesium 20 units are planned for production in 133.

At the heart of the clockwork is a compact SA.45s chip from Symmetricom, inside which is a capsule with gaseous cesium-133, a laser and photosensitive elements. The electronic unit of the device fixes the periods of electromagnetic radiation during the transition between the levels of the ground state of atoms of the gas heated by the laser. These periods are the SI standard for measuring time.

Bathys Hawaii engineers provided the microcircuit with the necessary power source - a lithium-ion battery (the operating time without recharging is not specified). To display the time, an arrow dial with an indication of the phases of the moon is used. The weight of the watch is not reported, but the weight of the SA.45s chip is 35 grams.

In May 2013, the British company Hoptroff announced the first pocket atomic watch, which was supposed to fit in a round case with a diameter of 82 millimeters. The clock was supposed to use a similar Symmetricom chip. Whether it was possible to release this watch is not reported.

It is worth noting that at present there are already models of wristwatches that show time with the accuracy of an atomic source. In these so-called "radio clocks", accurate time signals are received wirelessly from a system of transmitting base stations with atomic clocks.

The error of a watch with a digital indicator is no more than one second for three million years
Earlier in September, it became known that German physicists managed to achieve a record synchronization of two atomic clocks over a fiber optic cable with an accuracy of 10^-19. At the same time, the accuracy of modern stationary atomic clocks is 10^-16.
