For those who want to receive sound accompaniment of television broadcasts on VHF broadcasting radio receivers, I suggest using the converter (Fig. 1) described in the article by M. Ilaev "Simple antenna and UHF converter" (Radio, 1988, No. 2, p. 40). To adapt it to work with a VHF receiver, it was only necessary to change the values ​​​​of the capacitors C2, C3 and the design of the coil L1.

To receive the sound accompaniment of television programs broadcast on the 11th or 12th channel, it is necessary to wind 5 turns of PEL 7 wire on a mandrel with a diameter of 0,5 mm. Winding - turn to turn. By changing the number of turns of the L1 coil, as well as the distance between the turns, you can rebuild the converter to the desired channel. To prevent the VHF receiver local oscillator signal from entering the antenna and interfering with television reception, it is recommended to connect any (but preferably low-noise) RF amplifier to the converter input. I used an industrial antenna amplifier UTA-4M. The sensitivity of the VHF receiver is an order of magnitude higher than that of a TV and is 3 ... 12 μV, therefore, using the described converter with an RF amplifier, you can receive signals from even distant television stations.

To receive powerful signals from local TV stations, you can limit yourself to using a very simple RF amplifier (Fig. 2).

The converter is mounted in a rectangular case made of tin with dimensions of 60x60x30 mm. First, I vertically soldered the elements C1, R1, L1, L2, C4 and C5 to the common wire, and then soldered all the other parts to them by surface mounting. Instead of those indicated in the diagram, KT315 transistors with any letter index and KT316D can work in the converter.

Vortex thermosyphon cooler - a new source of energy 26.08.2013

The new device, called "Vortex Thermosyphon Cooler" (VTCO), was presented in Technopolis "Khimgrad", Kazan. HTSO converts the heat of water discharged by industrial enterprises into useful electrical energy. The invention has already been patented, similar devices are not yet used anywhere in the world.

As a resource for HTSO, warm waste water from industrial production is used, for example, a city water utility, thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, as well as natural reservoirs. The principle of operation of the HTCO is simple: the device extracts heat from water using a highly efficient film evaporation process. Film evaporation occurs when the evaporated substance is applied in a thin layer on the walls of the evaporator, which creates a large evaporation area and ensures high efficiency of the process of taking heat from water.

The design of the VTCO is very simple: submersible evaporators connected to condensers are mounted on a rotating wheel with a generator. The evaporating working fluid circulates inside the sealed HTCO circuit and requires a minimum of maintenance.

The scope of VTSO is wide - housing and communal services, sewage treatment plants, energy, petrochemistry, metallurgy, etc. According to experts, the use of HTCO can reduce the cost of electricity consumption at enterprises by 2-3 times. With a cooling depth comparable to a cooling tower of 8-15 degrees, HTSO is much cheaper: 1,4 million rubles per 1 MW of installed capacity. Moreover, thanks to the power generation capability, the vortex cooler will pay for itself in 5 years.

At present, the developers of the VTSO, JSC "Tatneftekhiminvest-holding", LLC "NPO Kinematika" and the Union of Communal Enterprises of the Republic of Tatarstan, plan to mass-produce a new device and its implementation at the enterprises of Tatarstan. It is assumed that the new installation will significantly reduce the costs of enterprises.
