Recently, multi-channel cable TV networks have become more widespread, however, the CM band 110-174 MHz, which is often used by them, located in the "hole" between 5 and 6 channels of the usual "terrestrial" MW band, does not allow reception on TV receivers 2, 3 and 4 generations.

I offer several methods tested in practice to refine the PTK and selectors PTK-3, PTK-10, PTK-11. They are used in tube black-and-white TVs, which many viewers still have. Since some channels of bands I-II and III are not used for broadcasting over cable networks, it is necessary, after removing the drum from the PTK, to remove the antenna and heterodyne sectors of unused channels and install sectors with converted coils in their place. To receive channels SK-1 ... SK-7 (110-166 MHz), the corresponding loop coils are made either from standard 1-5 channels by winding part of the turns, or from coils of other channels rewound.

The number of turns is indicated in table 1.

Table 1
Channels Frequency band, MHz contour coils
antenna UHF grid heterodyne grid anode
SK-1...SK-4 110.142 2 6 5 5 6
SK-5...SK-7 142-166 1 5 4 4 5

Coils of the antenna circuit wind PEL-0.51, heterodyne PEL-0,31. To receive the SK-8 channel (166-174 MHz), standard sectors of the 6th channel are used. SK-M-15 is used in color TV ULPCT. Data for rewinding coils are given in Table 2.

Table 2
Channels Frequency band, MHz contour coils

mix.
heterodyne
SK-1...SK-3 110-134 10 3 5 6 5
SK-4...SK-5 134-150 8 2 5 5 5
SK-6...SK-7 150-160 6 2 5 5 4

Antenna sectors are wound PEL-0,41, heterodyne - PEL-0,59. For the antenna sector, you can use coils from 1-5 channels, unwinding extra turns. The switching of the coils and the direction of winding must correspond to fig. 1 and 2.

Expansion of the TV frequency range for receiving transmissions via cable networks

For SK-8, standard coils of the 6th MV channel are also used. When winding the coils of the heterodyne sector, it is necessary to pay attention to the fact that the last turn of the base coil and the first collector coil are as close as possible or even touch each other. The contours are tuned to a specific channel by tuning cores and (if necessary) by changing the turn-to-turn distance, SK-M-24. The SK-1 range can be completely covered by an elementary replacement of the III range varicaps VD2, VD5, VD8 and VD12 of the KV109V type with Philips BB910 or BB911, which have a much larger capacitance overlap coefficient (from 2 to 38 pF).

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Multilevel magnetic recording based on skyrmions 02.05.2019

The tiny magnetic vortex structures of the skyrmion (named after the British theoretical physicist Tony Skyrme, who predicted this structure in the 60s of the last century) promise to become the basis of the magnetic memory of the future. These are topologically stable magnetic formations that can be excited in magnetic films and then read their state. In this case, writing and reading occur using spin currents by transferring the moment of rotation of the spin of electrons. This means that writing and reading can be carried out with extremely low currents. Also, the support of the magnetic vortex does not require a constant power supply, which leads to an economical non-volatile memory.

Over the past few years, scientists have been closely studying the behavior of skyrmions and reasonably believe that these structures will help to significantly increase the magnetic recording density. Moreover, recently British and American scientists have found a way to increase the recording density by several times using skyrmions without special difficulties in the form of reducing the diameter of vortex structures, which can lead to the speedy translation of scientific thought into a commercial product.

Instead of the traditional binary notation, where 1 and 0 would be a skyrmion or no skyrmion, scientists from the University of Birmingham, Bristol and the University of Colorado at Boulder presented a combined vortex structure, which they called the "skyrmion bag" (skyrmion bag). Undoubtedly, a "bag" of skyrmions is better than a single skyrmion. The number of skyrmions in the bag can be anything, which allows you to assign more values to it than 0 or 1. This is a direct way to increase the recording density. To a certain extent, this is comparable to multi-level recording in a NAND flash cell. There is no need to remind once again how quickly the flash drive market began to expand after the start of mass production of NAND TLC memory with three bits written per cell.

Scientists from England presented the creation of the structure of the "bag of skyrmions" in the form of an abstract model and reproduced the phenomenon in a simulator program. Their American colleagues reproduced the phenomenon in practice, although they used liquid crystals rather than magnetic structures to launch vortex structures. Liquid crystals are known to be controlled by a magnetic field, which allows them to be used for staged experiments to visualize magnetic phenomena. We are waiting for the transfer of experiments to magnetic films.
