Permanent and periodic exhibitions, large and small, are held throughout our country. They take place in clubs, at enterprises, in the foyers of cinemas, in schools, in parks, in squares of cities and villages.

Organizing exhibitions involves the expenditure of significant material resources for the development, production and installation of equipment. It must ensure a good inspection of the exhibits, their safety, meet design requirements and at the same time be economical in production, convenient for installation, dismantling, transportation and storage.

In recent years, exhibitions have most often used structures in which the assembly and fastening unit plays a significant role. It is with its help that various open and closed showcases, stands, and various architectural and spatial systems are created. Such a unit should be easy to manufacture, allowing it to be easily and quickly assembled from standard elements as many structures as different in shape and purpose as possible.

The assembly units traditionally used at exhibitions for the most part do not meet all these requirements. Better than others, the assembly unit is in the form of a ball, with holes for connecting to tubular rods. It is possible to create lightweight structures of various spatial forms, but decorating them, that is, covering them, with panels, sheets of glass, bars and other elements, as a rule, is possible only after assembling the structure at the exhibition itself, and this requires additional installation fittings. We also have to take into account the high cost of manufacturing the main element of the assembly - a ball with many holes.

Recently, exhibition equipment began to use an assembly unit developed by the author of the article (author's certificate No. 647444) and introduced at the All-Union Production and Art Plant named after E.V. Vuchetich.

Such a unit is very simple: it consists of two metal, for example aluminum, rings - internal and external, and a pressure screw (the main version). The whole “trick” of the design is that the outer ring at one of the ends has three slots located at an angle to each other, and a hole tapped for a screw. The assembled elements are installed in the slots and secured with an inner ring, which is tightened with a screw.

Such a node is easy to manufacture, the metal consumption for it is small.

Depending on the requirements for the assembled product, the assembly unit can be modified, for example, increasing or decreasing the diameter and height of the rings, replacing them with pipes, etc. The installation capabilities of the assembly unit are very diverse. It allows you to easily and quickly, without the use of any other assembly elements, create framed and frameless equipment of various shapes and purposes from sheet, angle, profile, tubular and other materials (some examples of element assembly are shown in the photographs).

The new assembly unit has already been used in equipment at more than fifty exhibitions held in our country and abroad.

It should be emphasized that the scope of use of such an assembly unit is not limited to the creation of exhibition equipment. The unit can be useful, for example, in construction for assembling scaffolding and scaffolding, for assembling furniture, in parts of children's construction sets, in short, in cases where easy and quick connection of individual structural elements and their subsequent disassembly is required.
