There are many installations where it is necessary to very accurately maintain the speed of rotation of electric motors - high-quality tape recorders (including video), precision machine tools, scientific instruments ... But as soon as the voltage in the network or the load on the motor shaft changes, its quantity also changes. revolutions. To prevent this from happening, increase the supply voltage. This is necessary for that. so that at high loads it is obviously enough, and at small loads, the "excess" voltage is simply extinguished on the power transistor of the automatic electronic stabilizer, thus maintaining the set rotation speed of the DC motor. It would seem that it is small, only half a finger, a detail, and the power dissipated on it. not so significant. However, on millions of such elements throughout the country, a lot of energy literally goes into the air (that is, it goes to heat transistors).

But what if we do without increased voltage to power the motor, but simply turn it off for a very short time - say, hundredths of a second? He will not have time to stop - he will rotate by inertia. If the speed has increased (with a decrease in load), then the duration of the pause will automatically increase, and vice versa. Then the energy consumption will be sharply reduced - it is not "extinguished" anywhere, the load is only temporarily disconnected from the power source. However, making such a "switch" is not easy. Moreover, at the time of engine spin-up, its current is high and the voltage of the power source can "sit down".

The required stabilizer (see diagram) was designed by an employee of the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Ph.D. tech. Sciences V. Biryulin. Unlike similar devices, its stabilizer always maintains a constant ratio between the load current and the base current of the power transistor through which the electric motor is powered (the greater the load current, the greater the base current). This became possible due to the use of a unipolar (field) transistor here - one in which the current is created by the movement of only one "sort" of charge carriers, and not by electrons and "holes", as in bipolar transistors. And the stabilizer turned out to be much simpler in structure, consumes less energy, it uses cheaper low-power transistors. And its efficiency at the calculated load reaches 96-97%.

The design of the device is recognized as an invention (A. C. 903830).

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

New stage of human evolution 13.10.2020

Australian scientists say they have discovered a new stage in the evolution of modern man, in which wisdom teeth disappear and an additional artery appears.

“More and more children in the world are born without wisdom teeth embedded in their jaws,” Australian scientists say after analyzing human development data over the past 250 years. According to them, over the past two centuries, human physiology has changed the fastest in the history of evolution. modern humans, compared with their relatively recent ancestors, have become smaller in the face, an additional artery has appeared on the forearm, and additional bones have appeared in the legs, ”says scientists from Flinders University in South Australia in a report.

It is noted that most people are born with wisdom teeth, which in adolescence, or later, begin to come out. Scientists believe that these teeth were needed by people in ancient times for chewing raw or very hard food, however, now they are becoming superfluous.

"As the face gets smaller, there isn't much room for wisdom teeth because the jaw has shrunk," said Dr. Tegan Lucas of Flinders University.

Scientists emphasize that the appearance of an additional artery in the human forearm also indicates rapid evolutionary changes. Previously, children were born with this artery and it quickly disappeared, and now every third person has this blood vessel for the rest of his life.

More and more people in the world are born with an extra small bone behind the knee called the fabella. Previously, it was believed that humans lost this bone during evolution.

Also in the human foot, scientists noticed additional joints that connect the bones.
