Stalin I.V.
Stalin I.V.

Phraseologism: We have no irreplaceable.

Meaning: To perform any business, you can find an executor (jokingly-iron.).

Origin: A phrase known in socio-political vocabulary since the beginning of the 1912th century. It first became known as the slogan ("There are no irreplaceable people"), under which the future American President Woodrow Wilson, who borrowed this expression from the French language, conducted his election campaign (1932). Later (2) this slogan was used by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, fighting Howard Hoover for the presidency. In Russia, this expression is known as the phrase of I. V. Stalin, although in this form it is not found anywhere in his speeches or writings. Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. Cartilage tissue in the joints is not updated throughout life 17.07.2016

Katja M. Heinemeier from the Center for Healthy Aging (Denmark) and her colleagues conducted a study of the human musculoskeletal system using radiocarbon dating. Researchers have come to the conclusion that our joints practically do not renew themselves with age. This means that developing new treatments for many joint diseases may be more difficult than previously thought.

In the new study, scientists used radiocarbon dating (a technique often used in archeology and forensics) to study changes in the human musculoskeletal system. Fifteen volunteers born in 1935-1997 took part in the project.

The methodological basis of the work was the fact that during the Cold War, nuclear bomb tests were actively carried out. Because of this, the level of carbon-14, which is absorbed by all living things from the atmosphere, has skyrocketed around the world. Thus, traces of this phenomenon can still be found in people who lived in the 1950s and 1960s.

Radiocarbon dating has already been used to determine the age of body fat, the lens of the eye and other body tissues. Now scientists have used it to assess the condition of cartilage. They saw that during a person's life, practically no new collagen is formed in the cartilage - even in individuals who are subjected to high physical exertion or who have undergone certain diseases.

The results of the work explain why cartilage is so difficult to heal after injuries and pose new challenges in the treatment of osteoarthritis and other joint diseases.
