Round connectors of the CPC family, produced by the world leader - Tyco Electronics / AMP, are an analogue of domestic ShR type connectors. Circular connectors are widely used in various industries, in particular in the production of machine tools, various industrial, measuring and medical equipment, as well as in automotive electronics.

Designers show particular interest in CPC connectors when developing equipment designed for operation under adverse external factors. CPC connectors are manufactured for operation in equipment with IP 67 protection class, i.e. high humidity and dusty conditions.

Connectors of the CPC family are manufactured with a special guide that prevents incorrect connection of the connectors, which is an undoubted advantage when using these connectors in equipment installed in places with difficult access or limited visibility.

The CPC connectors have signal and power contacts. Contacts are manufactured both in the version for soldering and for crimping with a special tool AMP. Depending on the series of connectors, the contacts are designed for various voltages and currents from 7,5 A to 50 A.

At the choice of the customer, CPC connectors can be equipped with several options for fixing and sealing the cable, as well as sealed covers and plugs that prevent dirt from entering the contacts or inside the connector.

The high popularity of the CPC family of connectors around the world is evidenced by the fact that Tyco Electronics / AMP, in order to constantly support the production of CPC connectors, has invested in the development of a new series of miniature CPC connectors. In November 2001 the company announced the global availability of a new series of connectors Microphone C.P.C.

As in previous series, connectors Microphone CPC provide cable-to-cable, cable-to-panel, or cable-to-board connections with minimal connector dimensions. Their diameter is 9,5 mm for a connector with 2…7 pins and 13,5 mm for a connector with 12…19 pins. The appearance of these connectors is shown in Figures 1 and 2.

The indisputable advantage of the series Microphone CPC is the use of a new development - "elastic spring" contacts, providing excellent electrical compatibility and low transient losses, resistance to vibration and mechanical shock. The tightness of the connector according to IP 65 class, the permissible current up to 2 A per contact and the possibility of 5000 mating cycles make them very attractive for the production of portable communication equipment, as well as portable measuring (including medical) instruments.

Characteristics of the series connectors Microphone CPC:

• working current - up to 2 A;

• operating voltage - up to 250 V;

• working temperature - (-55…+105)°С

• admissible wire section for soldering - 0,05…0,22 mm 2 ;

• contact material - copper alloy with gold coating 30 microns;

• number of contacts : 2…7 for 9,5 mm connector, 12…19 for 13,5 mm connector

The appearance of Micro CPC series connectors is shown in Figure 3.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Purity of speech affects memory 11.11.2018

Researchers from the University of Texas at Austin and linguists from the UTsoundLab found out why information from one conversation can be remembered for a long time, while another can completely fly out of your head.

Scientists have suggested that the memorability of the material is affected by the speed and purity of speech. In order to test this hypothesis, the researchers recruited 60 people who speak English (half of them are native speakers). Participants of the experiment read 72 sentences (six blocks of 12 sentences) in two ways - "pure speech" with a slow pace, clear pronunciation and "colloquial speech", faster and not as accentuated as in the first case. After this, the sentences had to be reproduced from memory.

The experiment showed that both foreigners and native speakers remembered better the content of sentences pronounced phonetically "clearly" and slowly. Scientists have explained it this way: if a person speaks too quickly or does not articulate his thoughts clearly enough, the listener has to spend more "intellectual resources" to "decipher" what was said. Consequently, the more effort the brain spends on understanding, the less resources are left for memorizing the material.

The results of the study will be presented at a meeting of members of the American Acoustic Society.
