Microcircuit stabilizers with a fixed output voltage of the KR1158 and KF1158 series (28 ratings each) are designed for use in electronic equipment for a wide range of applications. The regulating element of stabilizers of these series is included in the positive wire. A characteristic feature of stabilizers is a small voltage drop across the regulating element.

The devices are produced in a plastic rectangular case of four design options - TO-251, TO-252, TO-220 (according to the domestic classification KT-28-2), TO-263. All options are equipped with rigid, stamped tinned leads, and TO-252 and TO-263 cases are designed for surface mounting. The housing drawings are shown in fig. 1, a - d.

All four housing options have a heat sink plate. In the TO-251 case, stabilizers of the KR1158 series are made with letter indices A and B; in TO-252 - KF1158 series with indices A and B; in TO-220 - series KR1158 with indices V and G; in TO-263 - series KF1158 with indices V and G.

Pinout of devices (pin numbering from left to right, if you look at the case, located with the pins down, from the side of the marking): 1 - input; 2 - common; 3 - exit. In cases TO-251, TO-252 and TO-263, the heat sink plate 4 is electrically connected to terminal 2.

The closest foreign devices in terms of parameters are L4945, LM2930, LM2931, L48 series from SGS-THOMSON.

The stabilizers are equipped with a very advanced built-in overload protection system in several ways, which makes these devices ideal for the needs of automotive electronics. So, for example, the stabilizer load is protected from input voltage surges (up to 60 V) in case of a sharp shutdown of the main consumer of the car's on-board network. Protection speed - up to 10 V/μs. Stabilizers withstand the supply of input voltage in reverse polarity.

The thermal protection system completely disables the stabilizer when the crystal is heated to 150°C. As soon as the temperature of the crystal drops below this threshold, the regulator comes into operation again.

To limit the power dissipation, blocking of the output voltage is introduced when the input voltage increases above 30 V.

For stabilizers with letter indices A and B, when the output circuit is closed, the output current is limited to the specified maximum value. The idealized output characteristic of these devices is shown by the solid line in Fig. 2.

The stabilizers of groups B and G have a built-in protection system that provides a negative section on the output characteristic - a dashed line. Due to this, after the protection system is triggered, the output current is limited to a lower level, which reduces the useless discharge of the battery and the heating of the stabilizer.

After eliminating the cause of the stabilizer overload and triggering the current protection system, it automatically returns to the operating mode. It should be borne in mind that at this moment the load of stabilizers with a negative section of the output characteristic should not be too large, otherwise the stabilizer may enter a mode with a lower output voltage.

In this regard, it is important to note that, in comparison with foreign devices of the L48 series, on the output characteristic of the described stabilizers, point A, from which the negative section begins and the position of which determines the current properties of the protection system, is located much lower. As a result, the probability of false positives of microcircuits is less.

A load with a large capacitive component when the power is turned on for the stabilizer is the closure of its output circuit. Therefore, the current protection system will work and will keep the stabilizer blocked until the load capacitors are fully charged. This factor is very important for the correct choice of the power of the input voltage source of the stabilizer.

A typical stabilizer switching circuit is shown in fig. 3. Input C1 and output C2 capacitors should be mounted near the stabilizer and the connections should be made with conductors of a minimum length.

For the operation of stabilizers as part of motor vehicle equipment, the switching circuit shown in fig. 4. To a large extent, it takes into account the specific features of the operation of electronic equipment on mobile objects when it is powered from the local on-board network.

Sometimes it is necessary to power the stabilizer with an increased input voltage. In such cases, a quenching resistor is introduced into the input circuit of the stabilizer.

The described stabilizers can be easily converted into current stabilizers (see the diagram in Fig. 5). Resistor R1 determines the set value of the stabilization current.

If a voltage stabilizer for a load current greater than the nameplate is required, the microcircuit is supplemented with a powerful transistor VT1, as shown in the diagram in Fig. 6.

Camera for filming color video in absolute darkness 28.07.2023

Canon introduced the MS-500, equipped with a unique image sensor that is incredibly sensitive to even single photons. This innovative product was the first commercial device in the world with such functionality.

The MS-500 is capable of capturing high quality color video in total darkness using starlight as a backdrop. Thanks to the ability to use interchangeable telephoto lenses, it is able to record video with objects located at a considerable distance, even tens of kilometers.

Priced at $25, the MS-000 is equipped with Canon's exclusive SPAD image sensor, an array of single photon avalanche diodes. The first prototypes of SPAD sensors were presented by the company in 500, and then their mass production began. Each pixel of this sensor is able to respond to single photons at high speed, providing not only high sensitivity to low light, but also the ability to shoot at high speed, approaching the frozen state of the light beam.

However, the MS-500 avoids "freezing" the light. Instead, it is equipped with a 3,2-megapixel SPAD sensor measuring 13,2? 9,9mm lens that is capable of capturing color video in near-total darkness, such as as little as 0,001 lux, which is equivalent to starlight at night.

The MS-500's camera resolution surpasses the standard 1080p by adopting a new architecture. It is noted that it has an exceptional time resolution performance even among SPAD sensors, as well as low noise and sensitivity to the near infrared spectrum. This allows you to accurately determine the distance to the shooting object and its speed.

In addition to the camera, the use of Canon telephoto bayonet lenses expands shooting possibilities, allowing you to capture objects at considerable distances, up to "tens of kilometers". Although this feature is unlikely to be used in a domestic environment, the military and rescuers will probably be able to appreciate its practical value.
