This micropower transmitter can be used as a radio microphone, operating at a frequency of 87-9 MHz specially designated for such purposes. The signal is received by any VHF FM receiver having this range (VHF-2 or FM). The transmitter is powered by one galvanic cell of the AA or AAA series.

Micropower FM Transmitter

Transmitter Specifications

  • Output power, mW, no more ...... 0,5
  • Supply voltage, V ...... 1,5
  • Current consumption mA......2
  • Range, m, not more than ...... 50

The device, the scheme of which is shown in Fig. 1 is a generator assembled according to the inductive three-point circuit on a field-effect transistor with an insulated gate VT1. The oscillatory circuit is formed by the coil L1 and the varicap matrix VD1. The connection with the antenna is inductive, using the L2 coil. An antenna can be a piece of any wire from 0 2 to 0,8 m long, for compactness it can be twisted into a spiral.

The modulating signal from the electret microphone through the isolation capacitor CI and the resistor R3 enters the varicap matrix, which causes a change in its capacitance and, as a result, frequency modulation (FM) of the generator. The voltage divider R1R2 is used to set the operating point of the matrix varicaps. The passport value of its capacitance (at a bias voltage of 4 V) is about 30 pF. With a bias voltage of only 0.75 V, as in this design, the capacitance is larger and reaches 60…100 pF. But the steepness of the capacitance-voltage characteristic also increases, which makes it possible to do without additional amplification of the AF signals.

Transmitter coils are frameless. They are wound on a mandrel with a diameter of 4 mm with PEV-2 0 44 wire and contain: LI ~ 7 turns with a tap from the 3rd turn, counting from the lead connected to the common wire: L2 - 1 turn. The microphone can be any electret, for example MkE-3 or similar imported. The KVS111 varicap matrix can be taken with any letter index, the transistor also, but you need to select an instance with an initial drain current in the range of 1,5 ... 4 mA. The drain current can be measured on the assembled transmitter by closing the terminals of the L1 coil with a short conductor and connecting a milliammeter in series with the battery.

A drawing of the printed circuit board on which the transmitter is assembled is shown in Fig.2.

Micropower FM Transmitter

There are no holes in the board, and the leads of the parts are soldered directly to the pads.

The transmitter tuning is reduced to setting the frequency to 87,9 MHz by compressing and stretching the turns of the L1 coil. This is easy to do by placing a receiver near the VHF FM device and listening to the signal on it. Communication with the antenna is selected according to the maximum signal, choosing the distance between the coils L1 and L2. It may be necessary to move the monitoring receiver further away from the transmitter.

The communication coil is placed coaxially with the contour coil, closer to its output connected to the common wire.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Edible cheese capacitors and energy 27.05.2016

In the USA, a capacitor was constructed from cheese, coal and an energy drink. Such devices could power medical devices or help fight disease-causing bacteria in the future.

All the ingredients for their device, scientists from the University of Arizona purchased at a local supermarket. An energy drink acts as an electrolyte. They soaked a strip of algae sandwiched between two polarly charged electrodes. The latter were made from a mixture of crushed coal with a raw egg and gelatin. Finally, the outer layer of cheese pieces enhances both the electrical conductivity and the edibility of the device.

Scientists claim that their capacitor in terms of specific energy capacity is superior to other samples of biodegradable parts of electrical appliances. In a series of tests, a capacitor was charged and used to power an LED and a video camera. Then one of the scientists bit off a piece of the device to prove its edibility.

In addition, scientists have demonstrated how to kill E. coli with electricity. They found that the device can work in human gastric juice for about four minutes, after which it will dissolve.

In the future, the researchers hope to reduce the size of their edible capacitors. The devices are designed to replace standard batteries that power modern medical devices - those that are swallowed by patients. If ordinary batteries get stuck in the body or break for some reason, their toxic ingredients can seriously harm your health, but edible capacitors do not have this risk.
