The European consortium International DMB Advancement Group is promoting the standard. The first DAB channel was launched in Norway in 1995 by the state broadcaster Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. Since then, this standard has become widespread in about two dozen European countries and Asia.
DAB+ is positioned as a replacement for FM radio. Some countries are even planning to phase out analogue broadcasting when full DAB coverage is achieved. According to LG, DAB+ is now available to more than 500 million people in 40 countries. However, not all states use it. For example, in the United States, the HD Radio standard has become popular.
The presence of DAB + in your smartphone will allow you to listen to the radio in higher quality and will open access to more radio stations.
