ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RADIO ELECTRONICS AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Electronic engraving. Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering / Ham Radio Technologies The use of high frequency current at high voltage for engraving makes it possible to engrave on wood, ivory and other combustible or charring materials. Strokes applied to plywood by this method are comparable in thickness to strokes applied to copper mechanically. The engraving process is based on the passage of high-frequency currents (80-100 kHz and higher) through small parasitic capacitances between the cutter and the material, resulting in an electric arc between the cutter tip and the engraved surface. The source of high-frequency current is a generator assembled on a double triode L2 according to a circuit with transformer feedback (Fig. 1). Both lamp triodes are connected in parallel.
The L1C2 circuit, tuned to a frequency of 100 kHz, is included in the anode circuit of the generator. Coils L1 and L2 are placed on one ferrite rod with a diameter of 9 mm and a length of 140 mm (Fig. 2).
Between them is a coil L3 containing 1200 turns of wire with a diameter of 0,13-0,15 mm. Coil L3 is wound in layers, the layers are separated by spacers of good insulating paper. The finished coil must be well impregnated, since the alternating voltage on it during the operation of the generator reaches 3500 V. In addition, the coils L1 and L3 are mounted on a mandrel with a diameter of 25 mm, machined from insulating material. It is desirable to use heat-resistant material for the mandrel, since the ferrite core becomes very hot during generator operation. A cutter with a sharply honed end is inserted into a holder made of a good insulator. To form an arc, the cutter is brought to an auxiliary metal electrode pressed against the engraved product, and there is no need to connect the auxiliary electrode to the generator. By changing the degree of connection between the coils L1 and L3, it is possible to reduce the power of the generator, which is desirable when applying thin strokes. The 6N7 lamp can be replaced with a 6N7S, DY87 - 1Ts21P or ZTs18P, EZ80, EZ81 - 5Ts4S or 6Ts5S lamp, and the voltage of the filament windings of the power transformer must correspond to the filament voltage of the lamps used. The data of coils L1 and L2 are not given in the article. Literature
