Sometimes a situation arises when SAW resonators are available for those frequencies for which the industry does not produce receiving modules. And it's no secret that the cost of industrial microassemblies of about 7 ye (RX 5000) can discourage anyone from experimenting.

The modern element base allows you to assemble both the transmitter and the receiver on your own with characteristics that are at least as good as those of industrial modules.

Data transmitter

A standard circuit tested by many radio amateurs.

It consists of a controlled master oscillator and a power amplifier.

Power is about 10 mW, current consumption is 15 mA. The master oscillator current is about 2 mA. The current consumption and power of the final stage can be adjusted by bias resistors. It should be remembered at the same time that the current of the final stage over 50 mA can disable the transistor used in this design.

Data receiver

The receiver is a super-regenerator with a sensitivity of about 1 μV. Retains performance from 3 to 6 volts, while not "leaving" the frequency.

The connection of the super-regenerator with the antenna is inductive, which makes it possible to avoid the detrimental effect of pickups and strong signals on the operation of the super-regenerative cascade.

The receiver is tuned by shifting and expanding the turns of the coil in the collector circuit. The use of capacitors in parallel with the collector coil is undesirable because it worsens the quality factor of the circuit.

At a frequency of 423,2 MHz, the circuit has 9 turns.

In numerous tests carried out, it turned out that the use of UHF in conjunction with a properly tuned receiver of a similar type does not give anything in terms of improving sensitivity, but only worsening the dynamics of the super-regenerator allows for some negligence in its tuning.

The AM signal received by the receiver has a very small amplitude, so it is first amplified and then fed to the input of a comparator (threshold device).

A log 1 appears at the output of the comparator if the voltage level at its input exceeds a certain level.

In the process of setting up the receiver, the signal emitted by the transmitter is conveniently controlled even in analog form after the first amplifier (terminal 1 of the LM 358), by connecting the input of a conventional ULF there.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The female brain changes every month 18.10.2016

Our brain is constantly changing, adjusting to a variety of life circumstances. Obviously, hormones play an important role in such changes: the brain is connected to the endocrine system in a feedback loop, so that hormones affect the functioning of the nervous system in the same way that the nervous system affects them. One of the most significant hormonal processes is the female menstrual cycle. During the menstrual cycle, among other things, the level of estrogen in the blood changes, and as studies by Julia Sacher and her colleagues at the Max Planck Institute for Consciousness and the Human Brain have shown, estrogen fluctuations clearly affect the brain, or at least , in some of its zones.

The experiment consisted of a thirty-two-year-old woman regularly undergoing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain, comparing the MRI data with the level of estrogen in the blood. The increased levels of the hormone coincided with a slight increase in the hippocampus, with an increase in both white and gray matter.

The hippocampus is known to serve as one of the memory centers in the brain and is also involved in the formation of emotions. Whether changes in him affect the psyche is not yet clear, but they probably do. In any case, in female mice, it is well known that their behavior changes in accordance with the menstrual cycle, and their hippocampus is directly related to this. Women also have regularly manifested changes in mood, which in the most severe form take the form of the so-called premenstrual dysphoric disorder, characterized by increased irritability, increased anxiety, depression, etc.

If the new results are confirmed in more women, and if the changes in the brain can be clearly correlated with cyclical patterns of behavior, then it may be possible to think about creating some drugs that would somehow mitigate the mood swings that occur on certain days.
