Squelch for sound card with 12 volt single supply

SA1 - turn off noise reduction
R3 - setting the cutoff frequency (average value 68K)
R5 - noise reduction threshold adjustment (~47K)

With a supply voltage of 12V, the stabilizer is not needed, leave the capacitors for power. If it will be necessary to attenuate the input signal, it is desirable to change only R1. You will need to change it if, at the maximum output signal at the linear output of the card, the noise suppressor will have distortion.

When installing these elements, the settings do not require, with the exception of setting the noise reduction limits, and possibly the magnitude of the input signal. When the circuit is powered from a computer power supply, a slight appearance of an RF background is possible, it can be eliminated by selecting 157XP3 power capacitances.

It works very efficiently, limiting not only the analog noise of the sound card, but also the digital noise that creeps through both the SB power supply and the DAC noise, which is especially inherent in inexpensive cards.
