LSM6DSO32 chip for MEMS motion sensors

17.07.2020

STMicroelectronics has updated its line of MEMS motion sensors with the release of the new LSM6DSO32 chip, which includes a 6D digital accelerometer and gyroscope. The LSM32DSO0,55 features a reduced consumption of XNUMX mA when operating in Performance mode, which allows you to accurately track the movement of an object even when powered by a battery.

The microcircuit has a built-in state machine, which allows for primary signal processing, reducing the load on the external microcontroller and the overall power consumption. With flexible settings, LSM6DSO32 can recognize the following events - free fall, orientation in space along 6 axes, pressing and double pressing a key, recognition of the type of activity and detection of the beginning of movement. With low power consumption and high performance, the indoor IP units realize the functions of a pedometer in the form of a step detector and a step counter, can detect tilt and large movement.

LSM6DSO32 determines accelerations in the range of +-4/+-8/+-16+-32 g and measures the angular velocity of +-125/+-250/+-500/+-1000/+-2000 dps. The sensor contains 9 KB of buffer memory for dynamic data packetization. High resistance to mechanical stress allows LSM6DSO32 to be successfully used in devices with high reliability requirements. The LSM6DSO32 comes in a 2,5 x 3,0 x 0,83 mm LGA package with 8 pins.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

All-glass metal lenses for telescopes 01.02.2024

Harvard scientists have unveiled a revolutionary all-glass metal lens technology that promises to revolutionize the field of astronomical optics. These new components, created using deep ultraviolet projection lithography, have the potential to change the way we image celestial objects.

The development of all-glass metal lenses opens up new perspectives for astronomy and optics, bringing us closer to a deeper understanding of the Universe. This advance in technology can make a significant contribution to the development of astronomical science and space exploration.

The metallens manufacturing process involves etching nanostructures on glass surfaces, allowing the creation of lenses up to 10 cm in diameter with high resolution. This technology opens up new horizons for imaging objects in the visible wavelength range, including the Sun, Moon and even distant nebulae.

In a number of successful experiments, astronomers have been able to obtain images of celestial objects that are virtually indistinguishable from those obtained using space telescopes such as NASA.

This significant breakthrough in optics could be a key step in the development of astronomical research, providing clearer and more detailed images of space objects.
