There are many options for audible indicators-beam sharpeners for direction finding receivers. Another version of the sharpener is proposed, which contains only three parts: a capacitor, a varicap and a resistor.
On fig. 1 shows a fragment of the circuit of the Les-3.5 receiver with additional sharpener elements. These elements (R1, C1, VD1) are surface-mounted near telephone jacks.
The sharpener works as follows. The voltage from the phones through the resistor R1 is supplied to the varicap VD1. This varicap is connected to the circuit of the second local oscillator through a decoupling capacitor C1. Under the influence of the received signal, the capacitance of the varicap changes and affects the frequency of this local oscillator up or down, depending on which direction the receiver is tuned from the carrier frequency. Thus, the frequency of the received tone changes as the receiver rotates in space. The change in tone is especially pronounced during short-range search.
On fig. 2 shows a fragment of the drawing of the placement of parts on the receiver boards. No additional configuration is required on the receiver.

Artificial leather for touch emulation
15.04.2024
In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>
Petgugu Global cat litter
15.04.2024
Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>
The attractiveness of caring men
14.04.2024
The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>
Random news from the Archive Addonics 10GbE network adapter
14.06.2016
Network infrastructure with speeds of the order of 10 Gb / s is rapidly becoming cheaper. A little more - and simple five- and eight-port switches will become available to ordinary users. And this is logical: the volume of content is growing and wired local area networks at a speed of 1 Gb / s may no longer satisfy the owners of large home storage systems. The simplest and cheapest solution is a point-to-point solution, where the connection is made directly by optical or copper cable, and the cards use the appropriate SFP+ transceivers.
But twisted-pair copper is more common, and often the cables are already installed, so why not use the existing infrastructure? Previously, ordinary users were stopped from using 10GBASE-T technology by equipment prices, even for network cards, not to mention switches. But prices are falling, and more and more affordable solutions are appearing on the market. These include, for example, the new network adapter Addonics ADN10GPX4, estimated at only $200.
This is a very small expansion card with PCI Express x4 version 2.0 interface, supports jumbo frames up to 16K bytes in size and sending in 64K bytes in packets (Large Send).
The card does not require a Category 6 or 10 cable. In the case of using a CAT5 cable, the data transfer rate reaches 5 Gb / s, but a fifth category cable (CAT2,5e) can also be used, then the speed will drop to 45 or 2.6.32 Gb / s, which is enough for the owners of many home storage systems. Of course, RJXNUMX, which has long been familiar to everyone, is used as a connector, and the adapter can be used in compatibility mode in GbE class networks. All modern operating systems are supported, including Linux kernel version XNUMX or higher.
