2.5.201. The distances from overhead line wires to the ground surface in uninhabited and hard-to-reach areas in normal overhead line mode should be taken no less than those given in table. 2.5.20.

The smallest distances are determined with the largest sag of the wire without taking into account its heating by electric current:

  • at the highest air temperature for overhead lines of 500 kV and below;
  • at air temperature according to 2.5.17 at maximum permissible values of the intensity of the electric and magnetic components of the electromagnetic field for a 750 kV overhead line;
  • at design linear ice load according to 2.5.57 and air temperature at ice according to 2.5.51.

Table 2.5.20. The shortest distance from overhead line wires to the surface of the earth in uninhabited and inaccessible areas

Terrain feature The smallest distance, m, at voltage VL, kV
to 20 35-110 150 220 330 500 750 VLZ
Uninhabited area; areas of tundra, steppes with soils unsuitable for agriculture, and deserts 6 6 6,5 7 7,5 8 12 5
Hard to reach terrain 5 5 5,5 6 6,5 7 10 5
Inaccessible mountain slopes, rocks, cliffs, etc. 3 3 3,5 4 4,5 5 7,5 3

2.5.202. When passing overhead lines of all voltage classes, it is recommended not to occupy land irrigated by sprinklers. It is allowed to pass overhead lines through these lands, provided that the requirements of building codes and regulations for reclamation systems and structures are met.

2.5.203. At the intersection of overhead lines with livestock runs, the shortest vertical distance from the wires to the ground surface should be no less than at the intersection with highways (see 2.5.258).

2.5.204. At the intersection of overhead lines with reclamation canals, the shortest vertical distance from the wires at the highest air temperature, without taking into account heating of the wire by electric current, to the lifting or retractable parts of earth-moving machines located on the dam or berm of canals, in working position or to the dimensions of dredgers at the highest level of high waters must be at least: 2 m - for overhead lines up to 20 kV; 4 m - for overhead lines 35-110 kV; 5 m - for overhead lines 150-220 kV; 6 m - for 330 kV overhead line; 9 m - for overhead lines 500-750 kV.

The supports must be located outside the land allocation zone for permanent use for reclamation canals.

When running parallel overhead lines with reclamation canals, the outermost wires of the overhead lines, if their position is not deviated, should be located outside the strip of land for permanent use for reclamation canals.

2.5.205. Trellis wire for hanging grapes, hops and other similar agricultural crops, crossed by overhead lines of 110 kV and above at an angle of less than 70º, must be grounded every 50-70 m of its length within the security zone of the overhead line.

Grounding resistance is not standardized.

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Controlling objects using air currents 04.05.2024

The development of robotics continues to open up new prospects for us in the field of automation and control of various objects. Recently, Finnish scientists presented an innovative approach to controlling humanoid robots using air currents. This method promises to revolutionize the way objects are manipulated and open new horizons in the field of robotics. The idea of controlling objects using air currents is not new, but until recently, implementing such concepts remained a challenge. Finnish researchers have developed an innovative method that allows robots to manipulate objects using special air jets as "air fingers". The air flow control algorithm, developed by a team of specialists, is based on a thorough study of the movement of objects in the air flow. The air jet control system, carried out using special motors, allows you to direct objects without resorting to physical ... >>

Purebred dogs get sick no more often than purebred dogs 03.05.2024

Caring for the health of our pets is an important aspect of the life of every dog owner. However, there is a common assumption that purebred dogs are more susceptible to diseases compared to mixed dogs. New research led by researchers at the Texas School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences brings new perspective to this question. A study conducted by the Dog Aging Project (DAP) of more than 27 companion dogs found that purebred and mixed dogs were generally equally likely to experience various diseases. Although some breeds may be more susceptible to certain diseases, the overall diagnosis rate is virtually the same between both groups. The Dog Aging Project's chief veterinarian, Dr. Keith Creevy, notes that there are several well-known diseases that are more common in certain breeds of dogs, which supports the notion that purebred dogs are more susceptible to disease. ... >>

Robot Experimenter 14.08.2005

The robot, which itself builds hypotheses about the function of a particular gene in the gene set of a yeast cell and itself develops experiments that can test its hypotheses, was created at the University of Wales (Great Britain).

There are about 6000 genes in a cell of ordinary baker's yeast, and the function of 30 percent of them is not yet clear. To understand why a particular gene is needed, biologists remove it from a single cell, and then watch how this cell grows and multiplies on different nutrient media.

This is what the robot does, which contains information about yeast and their biochemistry. It mixes chemicals, creating different nutrient media with the presence of one or another substance that is not required by ordinary yeast, but is supposedly needed by mutants with one missing gene. Spilling the resulting nutrient mixtures into special flat vessels, the robot places mutant cells there and watches how they multiply.

Scientists can only accept the results of the experiment from the robot. The results of the research will be important not only for the baking industry, but also for medicine, since many yeast genes are also present in the human gene set.
