1.9.1. This chapter applies to the choice of insulation for AC electrical installations for a rated voltage of 6-750 kV.

1.9.2. The length of the creepage distance of the insulation (insulator) or composite insulating structure (L) is the smallest distance along the surface of the insulating part between metal parts of different potential.

1.9.3. Effective creepage distance - part of the creepage distance that determines the dielectric strength of an insulator or insulating structure under conditions of pollution and moisture.

Specific effective creepage distance (λe) - the ratio of the effective creepage distance to the highest operating phase-to-phase voltage of the network in which the electrical installation operates.

1.9.4. Creepage distance utilization factor (k) is a correction factor that takes into account the effective use of the creepage distance of an insulator or insulating structure.

1.9.5. Pollution degree (C3) - an indicator that takes into account the impact of atmospheric pollution on the decrease in the electrical strength of the insulation of electrical installations.

1.9.6. Pollution Degree Map (КC3) - a geographical map zoning the territory according to C3.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Quantum data protection algorithm 23.11.2023

QuantumCTek Co from China, specializing in quantum information technology, has introduced a new method for ensuring cybersecurity of data in cloud storage. Researchers have used random quantum numbers as encryption keys, increasing the level of data security from quantum computing.

The presented innovative cybersecurity solution based on quantum technologies provides a new level of data protection in the cloud. By using random quantum numbers as encryption keys and applying quantum key distribution (QKD), the system successfully demonstrates quantum security as well as efficiency and fault tolerance. This is an important advance in the field of cybersecurity, which can be extremely useful in the face of the growing threat of cyber attacks and the development of quantum computing.

The basis of the method is the Shamir key distribution algorithm, which allows you to share private information between a certain group of people. This information remains secret until the majority of the group members pool their knowledge.

To improve efficiency and reduce costs, the researchers implemented an additional erasure encoding step within the ciphertext before data transmission using quantum key distribution (QKD). This not only ensures quantum security, but also increases fault tolerance.

The new solution is a practical application of the synthesis of quantum technologies and cryptography, providing quantum key security, guaranteeing the security of user data when uploading it to servers and transmitting data across distributed cloud storage nodes.

The researchers also conducted tests to see if their method could be used not only to transmit data, but also to store it. Experiments including encryption/decryption, key information and data storage confirmed the effectiveness of the new approach.

The solution is technologically and engineering viable, complies with quantum cryptography standards, and provides effective protection against the challenges presented by quantum computing. Given the potential of quantum computers to solve problems orders of magnitude faster than modern computers, the development of a new generation of cybersecurity becomes more than urgent.
