1.7.119. The main ground bus can be made inside the input device of the electrical installation with voltage up to 1 kV or separately from it.

Inside the input device, the PE bus should be used as the main ground bus.

When installed separately, the main ground bus must be located in an accessible, convenient place for maintenance near the input device.

The cross section of a separately installed main ground bus must be at least the cross section of the PE (PEN) conductor of the supply line.

The main ground bus should usually be copper. It is allowed to use the main earthing bar made of steel. The use of aluminum tires is not allowed.

The busbar design shall provide for the possibility of individual disconnection of the conductors attached to it. Disconnection must only be possible with the use of a tool.

In places accessible only to qualified personnel (for example, switchboard rooms of residential buildings), the main earth bus should be installed openly. In places accessible to unauthorized persons (for example, entrances or basements of houses), it must have a protective shell - a cabinet or box with a key-lockable door. A sign must be placed on the door or on the wall above the tire.

1.7.120. If the building has several separate inputs, the main ground bus must be made for each input device. If there are built-in transformer substations, the main ground bus must be installed near each of them. These buses must be connected by a potential equalization conductor, the cross section of which must be at least half the cross section of the PE (PEN) conductor of that line among the substations outgoing from the low voltage switchboards, which has the largest cross section. Third-party conductive parts may be used to connect several main earth busbars if they comply with the requirements of 1.7.122 for the continuity and conductivity of the electrical circuit.

Red phosphorus to increase the capacity of lithium batteries 01.08.2020

Scientists at the Argonne National Laboratory have made progress in creating a lithium-ion battery with increased capacity. The new development promises to increase the energy capacity of the anode material by a factor of ten and lead to batteries that are more capacious than today.

Modern lithium-ion batteries use a graphite anode. It is a battery-stable material. It does not crack even after 1000 charge and discharge cycles, although each such cycle is accompanied by saturation of the graphite anode with lithium and its subsequent return. And everything would be fine, only graphite has a relatively low energy capacity.

To gradually increase the capacity of lithium-ion batteries, new anode materials are needed. Two of the most promising materials are considered as such materials - silicon and phosphorus. Each of them has a theoretical energy capacity at least 10 times greater than graphite. Silicon anodes no longer seem like a fantasy and even promise to get into commercial products no later than in five years. But researchers at Argonne National Laboratory don't trust the material.

The scientists first made a composite anode using particles of black and then red phosphorus. Particles of phosphorus are crushed to a micrometer size and then combined with carbon particles of the same size. The resulting material showed a Coulomb efficiency of over 90%, which paves the way for commercial production of the composite anode.
