A simple radio receiver, the circuit of which is shown in Fig. 1, is designed to receive signals from amateur radio stations operating in the HF bands of 10. 15, 20, 40 and 80 m. It is assembled according to a direct frequency conversion scheme and consists of a set of input bandpass filters tuned to the middle frequencies of the amateur bands, a broadband radio frequency amplifier ( RF) on the transistor VT1, a diode mixer (VD1, VD2), a local oscillator (VT2) and a three-stage audio frequency amplifier (3H) with a high transmission coefficient on transistors VT3-VT5, loaded with BF1 headphones.

The desired range is selected by switch SA1. under. connecting to the input of the RF amplifier one of the bandpass filters, and to the mixer - the corresponding local oscillator circuit. The latter is tuned in frequency by a variable capacitor C27 and generates oscillations, the frequency of which is half the frequency of the received RF signals. To reduce the dependence of the local oscillator frequency on the supply voltage, a simple stabilizer on a VD3 zener diode was used.

The amateur radio signal amplified by the transistor VT1 is fed to the mixer (VD1, VD2) through the broadband RF transformer T1. The 3H oscillations resulting from direct conversion are fed through the L16C32 low-pass filter to the volume control - a variable resistor R7. and from its engine - to the input of the 3H amplifier.

To prevent self-excitation of the receiver due to parasitic connections of its cascades through a common power supply, decoupling filters R6C18, R9C34, R15C35 and capacitor C38 are used. For the same purpose, the wires leading to the moving contacts of the SAI switch sections are shielded.

The receiver parts are mounted on a printed circuit board with dimensions of 170x100 mm (in fig. 2 shows part of it, which contains elements of RF and 3H amplifiers, as well as a local oscillator). All coils are wound on polystyrene frames with a diameter of 7 mm with carbonyl iron trimmers (frames of IF filters of television receivers were used). The distance between the axes of the coils of the input bandpass filters is approximately 16 mm. The winding data of the coils are given in Table 1 (ordinary winding, turn to turn).

Table 1

Choke inductance L16 (the design can be any) -100 mH. Broadband transformer T1 is wound on a ferrite (100НН) ring with an outer diameter of 10 mm. Each of its windings contains seven turns of enameled wire with a diameter of 0,3 mm (winding is performed simultaneously with three wires).

The terminals of the capacitors that are part of the band-pass filters and local oscillator circuits, and the wires from the range switch are soldered to contacts pressed into the plastic bases of the frames, which serve as coil terminals. Brass screens are installed on the board between the coils of the band-pass filters and the local oscillator, as well as between them and the rest of the receiver parts.

Editorial note. Instead of those indicated on the diagram in the receiver, you can use domestic transistors of the KT325, KT355 series. KT368 (VT1, VT2) and KT373 (VT3-VT5), diodes KD503A (VD1, VD2), Zener diode KC175A (VD3). Headphones BF1 - electromagnetic resistance 3 ... 5 kOhm. Choke L16 can be wound on a ferrite (3000NM-1) ring size K20X12X6. The winding must contain 220...240 turns of PELSHO 0,1 wire.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Skyscrapers - solar farms 18.01.2022

The US company Ubiquitous Energy has received funding for a project to develop green windows that can provide buildings with green energy. The organization received $70 million from investors.

Ubiquitous Energy wants to do its part to save the planet from global warming through innovative green energy mining methods. So, to power skyscrapers, the company plans to cover the windows of urban buildings with an additional layer that can process solar energy into electricity. The thickness of such a layer is only a few nanometers, and small wires connect the entire system to electrical appliances.

According to company director Susan Stone, the money received will go to the final preparation of the product to enter the market. "In the future, we will be able to make French windows (windows to the floor). We will turn skyscrapers into vertical solar farms," Stone said. By early 2024, the organization plans to launch large-scale production. In addition to office buildings, Ubiquitous Energy also focuses on residential buildings.

New glasses have a minus - the price. Coated windows will cost 30 percent more than normal windows. However, the manufacturer and investors rely on the urgent need to solve the problem of global warming, hoping that this factor will increase demand for the product. As solar panels, Ubiquitous Energy windows also perform worse than traditional competitors - they are 50 percent less efficient. This is due to their position in space: less sunlight falls on a vertical surface than on a horizontal one.

“But we made a useful surface that did not generate energy at all. Glass was always passive, and we made it active,” Stone commented on the problem.

China has also made a bet on solar energy in the fight against climate change. The country's government is actively financing the construction of new plants for the production of polysilicon, a material used to make photovoltaic cells for solar panels. Thus, it is planned to reduce the cost of producing batteries and increase the pace of implementation of projects in the field of renewable energy sources.
