New battery for Tesla unveiled

The founder and CEO of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, presented to the public a new battery for Tesla X and Tesla S electric vehicles. The technology will significantly increase the mileage and acceleration rate of an electric vehicle.

Introducing the development, Musk called it a "major milestone" in the history of electric vehicles. According to him, the chemical composition of the battery remained the same, while the configuration was changed, which made it possible to increase the battery capacity from 85 kWh to 100 kWh.

With the new battery, the Tesla S P100D sedans could become the world's fastest accelerating cars, hitting almost 2,5 km/h in 100 seconds. Faster acceleration cars exist, Musk says, but not in the mainstream segment. Also, the developers promise to increase the distance that cars can cover without recharging - from 426 to 482,8 km.

“This is a very important milestone, and I hope that it will help people believe that electric vehicles are the future,” said Elon Musk, speaking at the presentation of the development.

The company announced the release of the Tesla Model 3 electric car available to the mass buyer in April of this year, then it was stated that in the basic configuration it would be about 35 thousand dollars, and ultimately the company would produce 500 thousand electric vehicles a year.

A drug to stimulate the growth of new teeth 29.09.2023

A team of Japanese scientists in collaboration with pharmaceutical startup Toregem Biopharma Co. is actively working to develop the world's first drug that can stimulate the growth of new teeth in humans.

According to the researchers, most people, with the exception of baby and permanent teeth, have so-called tooth germs that can potentially develop into new teeth. However, these rudiments usually do not develop and disappear over time.

In light of this problem, experts have begun to create a drug containing antibodies that block a protein that slows down tooth growth. This drug actively affects tooth germs, promoting their active development.

Toregem Biopharma Co., which received funding from Kyoto University, is expected to begin clinical trials of the drug in adults around July 2024.

In addition, the researchers plan to conduct clinical trials of the drug starting in 2025 in children ages 2 to 6 years old with anodontia, which means that some or all of their permanent teeth are missing from birth.

Children will be given one dose of the drug to stimulate tooth growth. The possibility of using this drug in the future for adults suffering from tooth loss due to caries is also being discussed.

The researchers plan to bring the drug to market around 2030. In 2018, this team was able to successfully grow new teeth in mice. Also in the same year, specialists were able to apply the drug to ferrets, which have both primary and permanent teeth similar to humans, and to achieve the growth of new teeth in these mammals.
