ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RADIO ELECTRONICS AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Powerful thyristor voltage converter, 12/200-500 volts 500 watts. Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering / Voltage converters, rectifiers, inverters The described device is designed to convert a DC voltage of 12 V into AC from 200 to 500 V and can deliver up to 500 W of power to the load. The converter circuit is shown in the figure. The frequency of the output alternating voltage is determined by the pulse frequency of the oscillator, made on transistors T1 and T2. These pulses through the transformer Tr1 control the thyristor switches D1 and D2, which alternately connect one or the other halves of the primary winding of the transformer Tr2 to a constant voltage source. The load is connected to terminals 4-5 of the transformer Tr2. The quality of the voltage converter operation largely depends on the correct selection of the capacitance of the capacitor C4, since the thyristors D1 and D2 are alternately closed by the voltage on this capacitor. The capacitor is chosen correctly if, with fluctuations in the supply voltage within ± 10%, a clear alternate closing of the keys is provided. The use of separating capacitors C2 and C3 increases the stability of the converter. Resistor R3 protects the power supply from a short circuit when switching keys. The output voltage frequency of the device with the specified data is 200 Hz. If you provide for the possibility of changing the frequency of the oscillator (for example, instead of the oscillator, assemble a frequency-controlled multivibrator with a power amplifier), then at the output of the converter you can get a voltage with a frequency of 50-400 Hz, which will allow you to use it for smooth control of the speed of rotation of synchronous electric motors with a power of up to 500 W . By changing the number of turns of the secondary winding of the transformer Tr2 accordingly, it is possible to obtain voltages of various sizes at the output of the converter. Transformer Tr1 is wound on a Sh16 X 10 core and has windings: I - 2x40 turns of PEV-2 0,8 mm, II - 2x10 turns of PEV-2 0,2 mm and III - 2x20 turns of PEV-2 0,2 mm. The Tr2 transformer is wound on a Sh50X60 core and has windings: I - 2x40 turns of PEV-2 3,0 mm and II - 800 turns of PEV-2 0,92 mm. With such data, the output voltage of the converter = 400 V.
