In practice, very often voltages from 3 to 12 V are required to power various devices. The described power supply allows you to obtain voltages of the following series: 3; 4,5(5); 9; 12 V at load current up to 300 mA. It is possible to quickly change the polarity of the output voltage.

The output voltage is adjusted in steps using the SA2 switch (see figure).

Universal low voltage power supply

Switch SA3 can change the polarity of the output voltage. Diode VD2 type AL 102 is included in the stabilization circuit of the reference voltage R1, VD2, VD3 and signals its presence. The stabilized voltage (selected by switch SA2) is applied to the base of transistor VT1. Transistor VT2 for reliable operation must be installed on a small radiator.

The power supply does not have output short circuit protection. But practice has shown that the KT819 transistor can withstand a short circuit for 15 ... 17 s. And with a load current of more than 300 mA, the VD2 LED reduces the brightness of the glow, which indicates an overload.

Transformer T1 has a Sh16x16 core, the primary winding is 3000 turns of PEV 0,1 wire, the secondary winding is 260 turns of PEV 0,31 wire.

Block dimensions 90x70x45 mm.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Autopilot of the Chinese search engine Baidu 24.07.2014

China's largest search engine Baidu intends to explore a new market for itself - automotive. An Internet company from the Middle Kingdom is interested in developing vehicles that can move without human intervention.

As Kai Yu, deputy director of the research laboratory Baidu Institute of Deep Learning, explained to The Next Web, this is not about creating an unmanned vehicle, but an intelligent assistant to drivers who, in certain situations, would take over some control functions. Such an electronic system will be able to collect various traffic information and use it in a specific car, said Mr. Yu.

He also explained that the views of Baidu and automakers on the future of the auto industry are different: the search engine is not thinking about replacing the driver, but about giving him more freedom than he has now. Kai Yu compared a "smart" car to a horse that moves independently and makes decisions in certain situations.

Baidu confirmed the development of self-driving vehicles to Tech in Asia, but added that the project was at an early stage.

Google and Volvo have made great strides in the autonomous car market. The latter not so long ago released robotic cars on busy city streets, which at the moment can drive in a given lane, adjust to the speed limit and the rhythm of the flow. Google demonstrated its own autopilot in action at the end of May 2014.
