The current stabilizer is assembled on the integrated stabilizer KR142EN1A (see diagram). The charging current is set by resistors R3, R4. A charging current amplifier is assembled on transistor VT1. If this current does not exceed 50 mA, the transistor is not needed. Using an amplifier on a powerful composite transistor, the author managed to achieve a current of 4 A. Of course, the resistances of the current-setting resistors R3-R5 and the input voltage were recalculated for this value. Rechargeable batteries are connected to the device in parallel through decoupling diodes (VD1-VD3).

Ni-Cd battery charging current stabilizer

The device was used, in particular, for charging disk nickel-cadmium batteries D-0,06 - D-0,26D. If necessary, they can be connected in series, but the input voltage in this case should be increased accordingly.

To charge three D-0,06 disk batteries, the total charging current is set within 16 ... 18 mA. They are charged with this current for six hours, and then the same amount - half as much. The measurement of the total charging current is carried out with any avometer set to the appropriate limit for measuring direct current. The charging current of a separate battery should be measured with a device whose voltage drop does not exceed 60 mV at the selected measurement limit. For example, the device 43109 is completely unsuitable for these purposes: the passport voltage drop across it is 1,1 V.

With the values of resistors R3-R5 indicated in the diagram and the input voltage, the device provides a charging current of 3,5 ... 250 mA. If it is made as an attachment to a power supply with an adjustable output voltage, it is possible to provide wider limits for current changes.

The device uses integrated stabilizers K142EN1A-K142EN1G or KR142EN1A-KR142EN1G in compliance with the pinout. Transistor - any of the KT815 series. Diodes - any silicon of the same type, but it is better to use germanium, designed for the appropriate current. The capacitance of the capacitors can be in the range from 5600 pF to 0,1 uF.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Artificial sperm created 12.03.2016

Biologists from Nanjing University in China have created artificial sperm.

Usually artificial spermatozoa are grown from stem cells, but Chinese scientists have invented a more promising way. In the laboratory, they managed to create spermatids - male germ cells of one of the final stages of formation. They are absolutely functional, but lack a swimming tail and can only fertilize an egg in vitro. With the help of this biomaterial, scientists obtained healthy offspring from several dozen female mice.

The production of artificial sperm required meticulous work from biologists. They took embryonic male mouse cells and exposed them to cytokines ("information" molecules) to develop into sex cells. The cells were then placed in a nutrient medium similar to male testicles and exposed to testosterone.

The resulting material fully complied with the "gold standard" for artificial sperm, defined by a group of reproductive scientists in 2014. Its main criteria are the absence of cellular mutations at each stage of formation, the correct set of chromosomes and the composition of DNA.

As always, the question of the ethics of such experiments remains open. Artificial sperm does not go through all the natural stages of cellular formation and it is not known how children conceived in this way will develop. In addition, spermatids are selected in the testicles - the body determines which of them are best suited for reproduction. This is not possible under laboratory conditions. Be that as it may, experiments to create artificial sperm are being carried out in many countries of the world and give hope to thousands of infertile men.
