A portable personal computer (laptop) is a universal thing, it can be used as a video player for watching DVD movies and other formats, as an audio player, and even a TV if you connect the USB-TV set-top box, and now they also advertise mobile Internet in every possible way. Everything would be fine - take it to the country, to nature, and enjoy life without separation from civilization. But the battery capacity is hardly enough for several hours, and where to get a power source if you are "away" from the mains - of course, the battery of your vehicle, whether it be a car or a boat. Here's the problem - only the voltage of the car battery is 12 V, and the laptop eats 18 V.

The figure shows a circuit for raising automobile 12 V to laptop 18 V, moreover, assembled "from what was at home."

Car power supply for laptop, 12/18 volts

The circuit generates pulses on the timer KR1006VI1. They enter the gate of a powerful key on VT1. On the inductance L1, which is rectified by the diode VD1. This voltage charges the capacitor C4. When the voltage on it reaches and slightly exceeds 18 V, the VD3 zener diode opens and opens the VT2 transistor, and it shunts the VT1 gate, closing it.

L1 is wound on the core of the line choke. DF110PC from an old TV. Contains 100 turns wound with PEV 0,43 wire, folded in half (to make it 0,86, but easier to wind).

Everything is assembled with a "hedgehog" in the case and on the board from a faulty switch of the carburetor "Volga" with an induction sensor. The case serves as a heatsink VT1.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The city sinks under the weight of man 04.04.2010

Canadian geologists, using precise satellite, radar and laser measurements, have determined that the city of Vancouver, located on the Pacific coast, in the Fraser River Delta, sinks into the soil by 3-8 millimeters per year.

This happens under the weight of city buildings. Undeveloped areas of the same delta sink only 1-2 millimeters per year. According to American data, in recent years, some areas of New Orleans have been sinking into the ground by almost 3 centimeters a year.

The influence of heavy urban structures on the fate of coastal cities must be taken into account when predicting sea level rise due to global warming.

Two at 0.43 is not 0.86 at all. If the standard diameter is 0,86, then the cross-sectional area will be 0.58mm (2). So if you take two wires, then the diameter of each is 0.6 mm.
