Telescopic antenna of radio receivers "VEF", "Ocean", etc. in field conditions it often breaks down, and in urban conditions such an antenna is ineffective due to susceptibility to industrial interference Traditional connection of a loop antenna to the input of such a radio receiver requires a complex matching system in each frequency range. However, the advantages of a loop antenna are obvious due to its spatial selectivity and less susceptibility to industrial interference.

Consider turning on the loop antenna using the example of the Ocean radio with a drum range switch. A fragment of his circuit is shown in Fig. 1 [1]. In all sectors of the switch, contact 18 (K18) must be released. The circuits disconnected from it must be connected to contact 6. The fixed lamella of contact 18 must also be disconnected from the body and a loop antenna, which is a single coil of wire of arbitrary shape, laid along the perimeter of the chassis, must be connected to the break point so as to obtain the maximum area of the coil. You can use any copper wire with a diameter of 0,3 ... 0,5 mm.

Loop Antenna
Ris.1

In the ranges of 50, 31 m, the frame is switched on in series with the loop coil, for which it is necessary to disconnect the output of the loop coil from Kb and connect it to K18 (Fig. 2). After that, the input circuit must be adjusted in the long-wavelength section of each range to the maximum signal by unscrewing the core of the contour coil.

Loop Antenna
Ris.2

In the range of 25 m and above, this inclusion of the loop leads to such an increase in the inductance of the circuit, which cannot be compensated by the ferrite core. In these ranges, the frame is included in the circuit through the range stretching capacitors. To do this, capacitor C14 with a capacity of 300 pF of a range of 25 m is disconnected from K6 and switched to K18 (Fig. 3). The adjustment of the input circuit is carried out as usual.

Loop Antenna
Ris.3

The described inclusion of a loop antenna ensures its maximum efficiency, since on any range it is an integral part of the resonant circuit in the input circuit. In the same way, the frame can be included in any radio receiver, taking into account its circuitry. The efficiency of the loop antenna with this method of inclusion is no worse than the telescopic one, and the noise immunity of the radio receiver is noticeably improved.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

In the air over the Gulf Stream 02.09.2008

Japanese geophysicists, using satellite sensing and computer modeling, found out that a stream of heated air rises above the warm Gulf Stream to a height of 11 kilometers. This "airy Gulf Stream" heats Europe.

Scientists hope that next-generation supercomputers, which should appear in 2009, will allow us to better understand the structure of the warm air flow and make weather forecasts more accurate.
