The author installed his alarm system using the mains. To do this, I assembled a simple signaling device (see figure), consisting of a household electric bell HA, an SA1 toggle switch, MTX-90 thyratrons or the like, connected through resistors. This part of the circuit is in the house. Blocks marked "block 1", "block 2", etc. are installed at the facilities. Each block includes reed switches SB2, SB3, etc., a lighting lamp and a resistor (in the first block, EL1 and R2 are indicated).

Security alarm for yard utility rooms

The signaling device works as follows. Reed switches (or microtumblers) are mounted in the doors and windows of the building and on the cellar lid so that when the door (window) is closed, the reed switch contacts are open (the magnet is adjacent to the reed switch). When you try to unauthorizedly open the doors, the contacts are closed and through the light bulb (EL1 in the first block) the electric bell HA located in the house is turned on. At the same time, the thyratron (HL2 for the first block) lights up, indicating in which room the operation occurred.

Enabling and disabling the sound alarm is made by the toggle switch SA1.

Details. X1, X2 - household socket-plug; SA1 - toggle switch TP-1-2 for voltage 220 V and current 5 A; HL1-HL3 - any thyratrons or neon lamps (MTX-90 were actually used); R1-R3 - resistors MLT0,25 or similar 0,8 ... 1 MΩ; SB1, SB4 household electrical switches; SB2, SB3 pushbutton switches or reed switches; EL1, EL2 - household electric lamps in the premises; X3-X7 - RP-10 type connectors or similar.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Light travels forward and backward in time at the same time 11.02.2023

By separating a photon using a special optical crystal, two independent teams of physicists have achieved what they call a quantum time flip, in which the photon exists in both a forward and backward time state.

The effect arises from the convergence of two strange principles of quantum mechanics that contradict certain rules. The first principle, quantum superposition, allows tiny particles to exist in different states or different versions of themselves at the same time, as long as they are not observed. The second principle, the symmetry of charge, parity, and time reversal (CPT), states that any system containing particles will obey the same physical laws, even if the particle charges, spatial coordinates, and motions in time are reversed, as in a mirror.

By combining these two principles, physicists created a photon that seemed to simultaneously move along and across the arrow of time.

"The concept of the arrow of time gives a word to the apparent unidirectionality of time that we observe in the macroscopic world in which we live. In fact, this contradicts many fundamental laws of physics, which are generally symmetrical in time and therefore do not have the best direction of time" - noted Theodor Stremberg, a physicist from the University of Vienna.

Scientists created their time-reversed photon out of intellectual curiosity, but further experiments showed that time could be coupled with inverse logic gates to enable simultaneous computation in either direction, thus paving the way for quantum processors with vastly increased processing power.

The scientists say a future theory of quantum gravity that combines general relativity and quantum mechanics should include particles with mixed time orientations, as in this experiment, and could allow researchers to look into some of the most mysterious phenomena in the universe.
