Serially produced asynchronous motors (IM), which are equipped with all modern enterprises, contain three sets of phase windings, which are shifted by 120°. This design is due to the ubiquitous three-phase AC system proposed by M.O. Dolivo-Dobrovolsky.

Modern research has shown that a four-phase AC power supply system is the most efficient. If the existing power supply system were converted into a four-phase one, then with the same useful work, it would be possible to reduce the electricity consumed by the AD. But in real networks, such a transition is impossible.

On a local scale, the four-phase AC power system is widely used in modern equipment, which has high requirements for energy efficiency and noise levels. The four-phase system provides such high parameters due to the optimal phase shift angle of 90°.

In order to obtain a phase shift angle of not 120°, but 90° in serial IMs, it was proposed by N.V. Yalovega to install combined orthogonal windings in IMs between the phase windings. At the same time, the characteristics of IM with combined windings in their parameters approach the characteristics of four-phase IM. Induction motors with combined windings have lower starting currents compared to serial ones; increased starting torque; mechanical characteristic close to excavator; higher efficiency and cosϕ in a wide range of loads; lower level of electromagnetic and mechanical noise; less heating; reduced electricity consumption.

The reduction in the level of electromagnetic mechanical noise and vibration is due to the fact that the combined windings suppress the odd higher harmonics of the field and currents. The shape of the field in the air gap and magnetic circuits has been improved. Due to the greater sectioning, the insulation of the windings is strengthened and the turn-to-turn voltage is reduced. For high-voltage IM increased resistance to corona in the frontal parts.

Combined windings can be installed on almost any three-phase IM in the process of overhaul or manufacturing. Such work can be performed in the conditions of operating enterprises during the repair of the operating fleet of AD. Such modernization for the enterprise is painless and does not require significant capital expenditures. At the same time, by upgrading the most energy-intensive IM, enterprises in the shortest possible time have the opportunity to reduce electricity consumption. This is the cheapest way to achieve energy savings. The introduction of other energy-saving technologies requires the attraction of more significant funds.

The characteristics given below were taken for two motors that underwent major repairs after winding burnout. Standard windings were mounted on one, combined on the second. The measurements were carried out in a specialized laboratory of the Karl Marx Electromechanical Plant.

Depending on the type, power and speed of the upgraded IM, the improvement in parameters ranges from 10 to 50%.

Over the years of production of modernized engines, none of them burned out.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Area Ragno GRABBER 2 video capture card 06.07.2016

Video capture cards are not the kind of devices that can be found in every PC, especially since analog video standards are practically not used in our time. However, these cards are often used by web browsers and gamers who want to stream the video of a game session to the Web, but do not take up the resources of the main PC. Area has announced a new version of the popular video capture board - Ragno GRABBER 2. The basis of the novelty is the Microsemi IGLOO2 FPGA.

The Ragno GRABBER 2 is a compact half-height (115mm x 55mm) PCI Express x1 card with two HDMI ports (in and out, pass-through supported). The most interesting thing about it is the hardware codec that compresses the video stream on the fly into H.264 format, while the old version of the board made do with the outdated MPEG-2 standard, albeit also in hardware implementation. There has not yet been a revolution in broadcasting, the resolution of 1920 remains the standard? 1080 (Full HD), this resolution is also supported by Ragno GRABBER 2. The first 50 batches of new boards will be delivered with cooling radiators installed on the main chip.

Lower resolutions are also supported, up to 480 x 360, as well as an AVI container with a low level of compression. You can adjust the degree of video stream compression within 1?24 Mbit/s. The manufacturer's website claims support for modes with 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 frames per second. Apparently, in Full HD resolution, recording is carried out at a maximum of 30 frames per second, although the input supports Full HD @ 60 FPS.

All modern game consoles are supported, from Wii U to Xbox One and PS4. The package includes the necessary recording software that runs on Microsoft Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 operating systems.
