A break in one of the phases supplied to a three-phase consumer can lead to failure of the electric motor or other load, which will cause an emergency in the process circuit.

Three-phase consumer protection device

The proposed simple device will allow, in the absence of one of the phases, to turn off the consumer, which is powered through a magnetic starter. The device (see figure) contains a three-phase half-wave rectifier, the input of which is connected directly to the output terminals of the consumer, and the output is connected to a series circuit consisting of a thyristor VS1, a resistor R1 and an electromagnetic relay K1.

The device works as follows. If there are three phases and when the SB1 button is pressed, the KM1 magnetic starter is turned on, which connects a three-phase consumer with its contacts. In this case, power is supplied to a half-wave three-phase rectifier. The thyristor VS1 opens, the relay K1 turns on, the contacts of which K1.1 block the button SB1, and the contacts K1.2 open. In this position, normal operation of the consumer is ensured.

If one of the phases is interrupted, the voltage at the rectifier output will have an interval with zero voltage, which will lead to the closing of the thyristor VS1. In this case, the relay K1 turns off and its contacts K1.1 break the power circuits of the coil of the magnetic starter KM1, the consumer de-energizes. Relay K1 type RES-9 (passport RS4.529.029.01.02), you can use any other relay with a coil resistance of 500 ... 550 Ohm and a trip current of 30 mA.

For other relay data, it is necessary to select the resistance of the resistor R1 and the operating voltage of the capacitor C1. Capacitor C1 type K5012, resistor R1 type PEV-10. Diodes VD1 ... VD3 can be replaced with D226B, thyristor VS1 - with KU201K.

When properly assembled, the device does not require adjustment.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Sunny Seville 01.06.2007

In the Spanish province of Seville, a solar power plant with a capacity of 11 megawatts has been launched. More than a hundred mirrors follow the Sun and concentrate its light on a steam boiler, which is mounted on top of an 80-meter tower.

Steam rotates a turbine with an electric generator, as in a conventional thermal power plant. There is a thermal accumulator, which allows not to stop the operation of the station for an hour if a cloud has come up. Seville usually has 320 sunny days a year.

The solar power plant will be further expanded and by 2010 will turn into a complex with a total capacity of 302 megawatts.
