Supply and exhaust ventilation systems for administrative and residential premises are effective not only from a sanitary and hygienic point of view. When using heat recovery, they also contribute to lower heating costs. The air removed from the room has a temperature of 20...24°C. Not using this heat means simply throwing it out the window. Exhaust air can be used to heat water and incoming air, thus contributing to environmental protection.

In the ventilation systems of houses, a given amount of air that is removed is taken from rooms with a high content of moisture and pollution (kitchen, toilet, bathroom), then cooled in a cross plate heat exchanger and thrown out. The same amount of pre-dusted outside air is heated in a heat exchanger without contact with the exhaust air and is supplied to living quarters, bedrooms and children's rooms. Appropriate devices are placed in attics or basements.

Heat recovery

In automatic supply ventilation systems, a given amount of air is continuously supplied to the premises with the help of fans. Exhaust fans draw polluted air from kitchens, toilets, etc. With the correct selection of fans, air exchange is ensured, which meets the requirements. The system includes heat exchangers, for example, cross-flow.

Modern installations in houses with good thermal insulation, compared with a convective heating system, can save up to 50% of heat. The efficiency of heat transfer from the exhaust air in plate heat exchangers is up to 60%, and even more with humid exhaust air. This means that in an apartment of 100 m2: the power of the heating system is 10 conventional units. fewer units of fuel per 1 m2 of living space, and the annual heat consumption is reduced from 40 to 15 kW/m2 per year.

A controlled ventilation and heat recovery system requires less energy costs for air heating than other systems. At the same time, due to the reduction in the installed capacity of the heating system, investment costs are reduced in new construction. In addition, fuel costs are reduced, as household heat emissions (heat generated by a person, lighting fixtures, household appliances, and solar heating) are used. Household heat emissions, instead of overheating the room, are redistributed through the piping system to those rooms where there is "underheating". The economic conditions for the introduction of modern heating systems are quite diverse. In a number of federal states in Germany, there are special tax incentives, thanks to which the initial costs can be reduced by 2030%.

In a typical apartment building in Leipzig built in 1912, which was reconstructed and additionally thermally insulated, the Dutch company Van Ophoven used a controlled ventilation system with heat recovery. Houses of this type account for up to 60% of Leipzig's housing stock. Each apartment is equipped with a device installed on the wall in a specially designated place. Outside air is preheated in the utilization device and then heated to the required temperature using an additional heater. In this case, we are talking about indirect heating. An efficiency analysis showed energy savings of 40% and carbon emissions reduced by 69%.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Sense ID technology 08.03.2015

Qualcomm has unveiled Snapdragon Sense ID fingerprint reader technology. While most modern fingerprint scanners use high-resolution capacitive sensors, Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID has used ultrasonic waves to create a map of the surface of the finger. The company says it is the first ultrasonic 3D fingerprint identification technology on the market.

This approach not only achieves higher resolution to recognize details such as pores and scars for improved safety, but also reduces the effects of finger moisture and other contaminants. In addition, the technology can work not only through glass and sapphire coating, but also through a plastic, metal or aluminum layer.

Sense ID uses Qualcomm SecureMSM technology and supports the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance Universal Authentication Framework (UAF) standard, allowing you to get rid of inconvenient passwords in many cases or to increase the protection for payments and other transactions. Qualcomm Sense ID will appear primarily in new devices based on Snapdragon 810 and 425 single-chip systems, but will be compatible with all Snapdragon 400, 600 and 800 series chips.
