7.4.20. In fire hazardous areas, electrical devices, instruments, cabinets and terminal assemblies can be used that have a degree of shell protection in accordance with GOST 14255-69* that is not less than that indicated in table. 7.4.2.

It is allowed to change the degree of protection of the shell from water penetration (2nd digit of the designation) depending on the environmental conditions in which the devices and instruments are installed.

Table 7.4.2. Minimum permissible degrees of protection for the shells of electrical devices, instruments, cabinets and terminal assemblies, depending on the class of fire hazardous zone

Type of installation and working conditions The degree of protection of the shell for the fire hazardous zone of the class
P-I P-II P-IIa P-III
Installed permanently or on mobile mechanisms and installations (cranes, hoists, electric trolleys, etc.), sparking due to operating conditions IP44 IP54 IP44 IP44
Installed permanently or on mobile mechanisms and installations, non-sparking due to operating conditions IP44 IP44 IP44 IP44
Cabinets for placement of devices and devices IP44 IP54* IP44** IP44 IP44
Boxes for assembling terminals of power and secondary circuits IP44 IP44 IP44 IP44

* When installing devices and devices that spark due to operating conditions. Until the electrical industry adopts cabinets with an IP54 enclosure protection degree, cabinets with an IP44 enclosure protection degree can be used.

** When installing devices and devices in them that do not spark due to working conditions.

7.4.21. Devices and devices installed in cabinets may have a lower degree of enclosure protection than indicated in the table. 7.4.2 (including version IP00), provided that the cabinets have a degree of shell protection not lower than that specified in table. 7.4.2 for this fire hazardous area.

7.4.22. In fire hazardous areas of any class, apparatus, instruments, cabinets and clamp assemblies can be used, purged with clean air under excess pressure.

7.4.23. In fire hazardous areas of any class, oil-filled devices and devices can be used (with the exception of oxygen installations and lifting mechanisms, where the use of these devices and devices is prohibited).

7.4.24. It is recommended to remove panels and switches for lighting networks from fire hazardous areas of any class, unless this causes a significant increase in the cost and consumption of non-ferrous metals.

Electrical installations of locked warehouses, which contain fire hazardous areas of any class, must have devices for disconnecting power and lighting networks from the outside, regardless of the presence of disconnect devices inside the premises. Switching devices must be installed in a box made of fireproof material with a device for sealing on an enclosing structure made of fireproof material, and in its absence - on a separate support.

Switching devices must be available for maintenance at any time of the day.

7.4.25. If electric heating devices are required in fire hazardous areas of any class due to production conditions, then their heated working parts must be protected from contact with flammable substances, and the devices themselves must be installed on a surface made of non-combustible material. To protect electric heating devices from thermal radiation, it is necessary to install screens made of fireproof materials.

In fire hazardous areas of any class of warehouse premises, as well as in buildings of archives, museums, galleries, libraries (except for specially designed premises, such as canteens), the use of electric heating devices is prohibited.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Video camera for bloggers Sony BloggerCam ZV-1 29.05.2020

Sony has introduced a new camera for content creators. This is how the company describes the new BloggerCam ZV-1, which is the result of a deep rethinking of the popular RX100 camera and designed specifically for bloggers.

Camera resolution - 20,1 megapixels. The lens equivalent focal length range is 24-70mm at f/1,8-f/2,8 aperture. Video recording is supported in resolutions up to 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) at up to 30 fps.

The camera supports time-lapse video, as well as super slow motion up to 1000 fps. When connected to a computer via USB (unfortunately, the novelty does not have a more modern USB Type-C standard), the camera allows you to stream.

For bloggers who shoot reviews of certain products, the Product Showcase mode is provided. It widens the field of view and instantly switches the focus to the closest object in the frame - no need to put your hand behind the subject to focus on it.

In the new Sony BloggerCam ZV-1 model, the conventional microphone has been replaced with a three-capsule directional microphone. For him, the company has specially prepared a windscreen for shooting outdoors. Such a microphone allows you to record only the sound in front of the camera, cutting off background noise.

The dimensions of the camera are 105,5 x 60,0 x 43,5 mm, the weight of the novelty is about 267 grams. The price of Sony BloggerCam ZV-1 for the Western market is 800 euros.
