Any DIYer has a soldering iron. But for those who have to deal with modern electrical and radio equipment, this tool is in a special account. And the requirements for it are quite stringent: with small dimensions, low-voltage supply voltage and low power consumption, ensure excellent soldering quality. Moreover, with a maximum of amenities, including a tip temperature controller and a special stand with a tray for solder flux and a place for tinning.

I am quite satisfied with the domestic electric soldering iron EPSN-40/40 with a home-made multifunctional stand. I was convinced that all this works no worse than the advertised foreign analogues, although the costs are minimal. And the materials for such a soldering complex are the most affordable.

Racks, a tray, elements of a temperature controller are fixed on a textolite base. In order not to use a 220/40 V transformer that weights the structure (weight not less than 1,5 kg, power taking into account the efficiency of -50 VA), a capacitor lowering of the supply voltage is used. Moreover, the values of C1 and C2 are chosen so that the "extra" 175 V is "eaten up" on capacitances, and up to 45 V is supplied to the load. To ensure power supply regulation, the shunt chain R3VD1R4 is connected in parallel to the soldering iron.

By reducing the resistance of the variable resistor R3 by simply turning the "Temperature" knob, the voltage of the positive half-cycle is partially reduced. The value of R4 is chosen so that at the minimum value of R35 the load receives no more than 45 V, and at the maximum - XNUMX V.

Resistors R1, R2 serve to discharge the capacitors after turning off. Together with the rest of the radio elements of the circuit, they are enclosed in a tin protective casing. Capacitor cases are insulated from each other and from the metal mounting bracket with several layers of cable paper.

The temperature control knob is a typical plastic one (for example, from old radio equipment), and pharmaceutical corks (from penicillin vials) can be adapted as rubber legs by attaching them at the installation site with glue "88", "Moment", etc. The wire of the base soldering iron is soldered directly to the connection nodes of capacitors with resistors.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

acid underground 04.02.2007

It has long been proposed to pump at least some of the carbon dioxide produced by burning fossil fuels underground to combat global warming. By staying there, this gas will not contribute to the greenhouse effect.

Since the spring of 2006, a thermal power plant has already been opened in Belgium, sending its combustion products to underground layers. Norway has started pumping carbon dioxide under the bottom of the North Sea, into depleted oil wells, a similar project is being prepared in Algeria. But it is not clear how reliable this method of storing harmful gas is, whether the gas will begin to seep into the atmosphere.

A group of American geophysicists decided to study the processes taking place underground. They pumped 1600 tons of liquid carbon dioxide into sandstone formations at a depth of one and a half kilometers near Houston, Texas. For the year that has passed since the beginning of the experiment, no leaks have been established. But, dissolving in groundwater, carbon dioxide makes them slightly acidic, which allows the water to quickly dissolve the carbonate minerals that hold the sandstone together. So over time, the rock can loosen and release gas to the outside.

True, geophysicists emphasize that dissolution is "quick" on a geologic time scale, and the entire process can take thousands of years. However, the authors of the study recommend choosing carbon dioxide-free rocks or formations that are isolated from the surface by clay or shale.
