To connect wires made of high resistance alloys (nichrome, constantan, nickelin, manganin, etc.), there are several simple welding methods without the use of special tools.

Method 1. The ends of the welded wires are peeled, twisted and a current is passed through them with such a force that the junction glows red. A piece of lapis (silver nitrate) is placed in this place with tweezers, which melts and welds the ends of the wires.

Method 2.If the diameter of the high-resistance alloy wire to be welded does not exceed 0,15-0,2 mm, then a thin copper wire (0,1-0,15 mm in diameter) is wound around its ends, and the insulation can not be removed from the rheostatic wire. Then the wires connected in this way are brought into the flame of the burner. At the same time, copper begins to melt and firmly connects both rheostatic wires. The remaining ends of the copper wire are cut off, and the weld is insulated, if necessary. This method can be used to connect copper wires to wires made of high resistance alloys.

Method 3.A burnt-out winding wire of a rheostat or a heater can be connected in the following way: the ends of the wire at the break point are pulled out by 15-20 mm and cleaned to a shine with sandpaper. Then a small plate is cut out of sheet steel or aluminum, a sleeve is made from it and put on the wires at the junction. The wires are pre-fastened with a regular twist. Then the coupling is tightly compressed with pliers. The connection of wires with a coupling provides a sufficiently high mechanical strength, but the contact at the junction is not always reliable, and this can lead to local overheating of the wire and its burnout.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Smart bracelet Sony SmartBand 10.06.2014

Sony has introduced the SmartBand, a water-resistant wristband that tracks and logs the wearer's daily activities.

The "smart" gadget captures the number of steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, sleep duration. The smart alarm function tells you what time to get up to get into a light phase of sleep. The collected information is uploaded to the Sony Lifelog app in real time. Activities are displayed in the form of diagrams, maps or a time-line log. The owner can always see how active he spent a particular day.

The bracelet is synchronized with smartphones on a platform of at least Android 4.4 (does not work with iOS), the connection takes place via Bluetooth and using NFC technology.

SmartBand will allow you to save data on the social activity of the owner: photos, songs listened to, routes traveled and activity in the social. networks. Lifelog will save all the information and allow you to return to the most memorable moments of your life.

The bracelet also controls the multimedia functions of the smartphone: you can turn on music or video on your phone.
Sony is already present on the market of "smart" gadgets: a year earlier, a smart watch was released - Sony SmartWatch 2 SW2. The emergence of a smart bracelet under the Sony brand has supported the global fashion for a healthy lifestyle.

The cost of the bracelet is $120. It will be available in black, it will also be available to purchase interchangeable colored straps: they are sold in sets in different directions - "sport", "fashion", etc.
