Light and music installation "Svetlana" consists of six functional blocks: amplifier, color analyzer, power supply, multivibrators, "pause" and FOU (Fig. 1).

Light and music installation Svetlana. Device block diagram

The color analyzer is based on the scheme from the collection "To Help the Radio Amateur" No. 42, a number of changes and additions have been made to it. For example, the 4th channel "pause" is on. In the absence of a signal, the thyristor V4 (Fig. 2) is open and the lamps H25.1-H32.1, H25.2-H32.2 are on. As soon as sound vibrations appear, V4 closes and the thyristors V1-V3 control the HEU lamps (H1.1-H24.1, H1.2-H24.2).

For normal operation of thyristors, the input signal must be at least 2,5 V. Therefore, an amplifier is included in the Svetlana circuit diagram, thanks to which the light and music installation is connected to various sound-reproducing electronic devices (electrophone, tape recorder, radio receiver).

If the sound signal is strong enough, the amplifier is turned off by switch S7 and the electrical vibrations are sent directly to the color analyzer. The input voltage level is set using a variable resistor R14 (control is carried out using the PA1 measuring device).

The power supply is made according to the bridge circuit. To smooth out the ripple of the rectified voltage, a conventional LC filter is used.

Multivibrators are designed to create various color effects on the screens of a light and music installation. The required modes of operation are set using switches S1-S9. The flash frequency is set by variable resistors R19, R24.

The output optical device consists of two identical light columns measuring 265 x 265 x 235 mm. The total power of the lamps of one column is 100 watts. The color block is mounted on a printed circuit board measuring 155X X65 X 1,5 mm (Fig. 3), VI-V4 thyristors are installed directly on the board, but with a load of more than 100 W per channel, they need to be installed on radiators - copper plates 6 - 10 cm in size2 2 mm thick. Inductors L1 - L4 are glued with PVA or BF-6 glue.

Transformers T1 and T2 are wound on cores Ш 12x25 and contain:

  • T1: I winding - 2380 turns of PEL wire 0,12; II - 2 x 140 turns of PEL 0,2; III - 65 turns of PEL 0,25;
  • T2: I-180 turns PEL 0,25, II- 360 turns PEL 0,25.
  • Inductors L1-L4 are wound on a cardboard frame (Fig. 4) and have a 600НН grade ferrite core (L=20 mm, dia. 0,8 mm). L1 and L2 contain 1600 turns each, L3-2000 turns, L4-3000 turns of PEL wire 0,08.

The amplifier is assembled on a printed circuit board measuring 110x52x1,5 mm (Fig. 5). Output transistors V40, V41 are mounted on copper or aluminum U-shaped radiators 25x38x25mm in size (Fig. 6). Multivibrators are mounted on two printed circuit boards measuring 70x50x1,5 mm (Fig. 7). The relays K1, K2 installed on them emit characteristic clicks. Therefore, they are pasted over on all sides with foam rubber 10 mm thick. The "pause" block is assembled on a printed circuit board measuring 74x50x1,5 mm (Fig. 8). In a rectangular cutout measuring 47x27 mm, a tuning resistor R5 is fixed with an aluminum strip bandage. The power supply is made by the method of surface mounting. The T3 transformer is wound on a Sh16x25 core. Winding I- 2380 turns of wire PEL 0,12; II - 65 + 100 turns of PEL 0,2; III - 65 + 65 turns of PEL 0,2. The L5 filter inductor has 450 turns of PEL 0,15 wires wound on a Sh12x20 core.

The location of the circuit elements and circuit boards on the common chassis of the light and music device is shown in figure 9. Light columns are made of 8 mm plywood, fastened with screws and wood glue (Fig. 10). The inner surface of the speakers is pasted over with crumpled aluminum food foil or mirror fragments. The screen consists of two mutually perpendicular rows of glass tubes dia. 4-7 mm. The vertical row is held by beads 3-4 mm high, the horizontal row is held by longitudinal tin flanges.

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Seismometer on smartphone 14.08.2020

Google is launching a feature that turns Android smartphones into earthquake detectors. To do this, the company has teamed up with the US Geological Survey and the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services, so Google can collect more accurate earthquake data.

Notifications on phones will come from the ShakeAlert program, which is a system that extracts information from more than 700 seismometers across California. Users will receive a warning a few minutes before the earthquake, and they will also see pictures that will tell you what to do to save yourself.

The reason Android can be used as a mini seismometer is because all phone models come with an accelerometer. This sensor can register the movements of the phone in space.

If the phone detects something that it thinks might be like an earthquake, it sends a signal to the server along with its location.

I don’t know, maybe I’ve gone crazy, but since childhood, Svetlana’s color music scheme looked different. For smooth operation of light bulbs, in the circuit, as in a receiver with a local oscillator, there was a generator circuit for kilohertz 30-40. Each of the 4 ferrite rings received a signal from the low-pass and high-frequency filters. High-frequency pulses modulated by a low frequency caused the thyristors to smoothly light up the light bulbs. Where in the sum of four colors there was always a different pattern on a matte screen.
