It often happens that a radio amateur does not have a filtering electrolytic capacitor with the required operating voltage at his disposal. In this case, you can use the scheme shown in the figure.

Turning on low-voltage electrolytic capacitors

The circuit does not require special explanations, but when choosing a zener diode VD1, it should be borne in mind that the stabilization voltage of VD1 should not exceed the voltage of the power source; the sum of the stabilization voltage VD1 and the rated voltage of the capacitor C1 must be greater than the voltage of the power source by an amount exceeding the possible changes in the supply voltage (ripple, etc.); Zener diode VD1 must withstand the maximum charge (discharge) current of capacitor C1.

Zener diodes of the D1A - D815Zh type with a stabilization voltage of 815 to 5,6 V with a pulsed current of up to 18A [3] work well as VD1, which, in my opinion, is quite enough for most cases of practical application of this circuit.

The proposed circuit will work well for the charge, but for the discharge there will be a dip by the value of the stabilization voltage.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Artificial intelligence independently concluded a contract 13.11.2023

UK startup Luminance has unveiled its latest development, an artificial intelligence (AI) called Autopilot, which is based on its own language model. This AI can automatically analyze and make changes to contracts, providing a new level of efficiency in working with legal documentation.

Luminance Autopilot provides an effective tool to streamline the workflow of legal teams, significantly reducing time spent on routine tasks and ensuring more accurate and consistent contract drafting.

The company's chief operating officer, Jaeger Gluckin, notes that the new technology solves the problem of the day-to-day routine tasks of lawyers by allowing artificial intelligence to negotiate and agree on contracts by interacting with other artificial intelligence.

Luminance's Autopilot has undergone extensive legal training and research into a company's business data, providing an advanced level of data processing compared to Lumi's previous chatbot. This tool is designed to act as a legal assistant, providing quick access to different parts of a contract and identifying potential problems.

The software demonstrates high speed, analyzing, changing and formalizing the contract in a few minutes. According to Jaeger, legal teams typically spend about 80% of their time processing routine work. Autopilot allows you to identify inconsistencies in contracts, suggesting more appropriate language and aligning them with corporate policies.

The technology highlights controversial points, marking them in red, and suggests alternative wording in accordance with typical company practices. For example, if a contract's non-disclosure agreement specifies 6 years, which is contrary to Luminance's policy, the AI will automatically adjust the term to the appropriate level.
