Surely many radio amateurs have preserved the Ts435 avometer. produced by the plant "Elektroizmeritel" in Zhytomyr. For many years I have been using this device to check and adjust a variety of radio equipment and household appliances. During this time, I was convinced that the device is reliable and durable thanks to a well-thought-out scheme and solid manufacturing.

However, the avometer has a drawback, which is noticeable today. If, when measuring direct current, external shunts can be connected to it, expanding its limit to 10, 20 or more amperes, then this is not provided for alternating current and the measurement limit is limited to a maximum value of 2.5 A. In everyday life, devices with a power of more than 1 kW are sometimes used. the current consumption of which needs to be controlled.

My analysis of the electrical circuit of the avometer led to the conclusion that it is possible to simply refine the Ts435, which will expand the measurement limit of alternating current to 12,5 A.

Expansion of measurement limits Ts435

In the device (a fragment of the circuit from the instructions for the device is shown in Fig. a) there are two series-connected shunts (resistors R1, R2) from a wire with a diameter of 1 mm with high resistivity. Shunt resistance R1 - 0,072 Ohm, R2 - 0,288 Ohm. They are used when measuring alternating current at a limit of 2,5 A (only R1 “works” on direct current). Contacts 11 V and 9 A belong respectively to the switches of the type of work and measurement limits.

Modification of the avometer is reduced to the conclusion of a conductor 7 ... 10 cm long and 1 mm2 in cross section (for example, brand MGShV) from the connection point of the shunts and connecting it to an additional clamp "~ ╡ 12,5 A" - it can be mounted on a metal corner attached to the body of the meter.

The measured current is passed through this terminal and "*". In this case, the type of work switch B must be in the "~╡" position, and the switch A must be in any position. If the measured current exceeds 2,5 A, the measurements should be carried out very quickly so that the resistor R1 does not burn out.

Unfortunately, the mounting density of the avometer is such that it is difficult to get to the connection point of the shunts. I had to use a little trick so as not to break the soldering of the shunt leads with copper. I unscrewed four M3 screws from the bottom of the avometer housing. disconnected both parts of the case, unscrewed the same number of M4 screws that fasten the textolite board with the elements placed on it. Then he raised it a little and soldered the end of the new wire to the contact with conditional number 9 (Fig. b). It belongs to switch A (it has six pairs of contacts in the left row and seven pairs of contacts in the right), and a wire from the desired connection point of the shunts is connected to it inside the device.

Then he lowered the board, fixed it with three screws, except for the top left one, and led the other end of the wire into the resulting through hole. In addition, to output the wire, I had to make a small cutout in the bottom cover on the side above the galvanic cell.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Snapdragon 820 chip for 600Mbps 20.09.2015

Qualcomm continues to share information about the features of the Snapdragon 820 flagship mobile processor, which will start trial shipments in October.

Today it is known that the named chip contains four 64-bit Kryo computing cores based on the ARMv8 architecture with a clock frequency of up to 2,2 GHz. Graphics are handled by the powerful Adreno 530 integrated controller, which provides support for 4K HEVC video at 60 frames per second via HDMI 2.0.

The processor contains a Spectra ISP image processing module. It claims support for three cameras (front and two rear), as well as the ability to shoot 25-megapixel images at 30 frames per second with zero shutter lag.

The Snapdragon 820 now reportedly includes an X12 LTE cellular modem for fourth-generation mobile networks. Devices based on the new chip will be able to download data at speeds up to 600 Mbps. The speed of sending information from the subscriber will reach 150 Mbps.

It is also noted that the chip will provide support for wireless Wi-Fi standard 802.11ac, as well as WiGig (802.11ad).

According to Qualcomm, at least 30 Snapdragon 820 mobile devices are in the design and development stage.
