Only three microcircuits and several other elements will be required to assemble a simple time relay that can be used to disconnect various household devices from the network. Duration of exposure time relay is from 3 to 120 minutes. It can be set by switch SB2 (roughly) and variable resistor R5 (fine).

The device circuit consists of the actual time relay (DD1.1); clock pulse generator (DD1.3, DD2.1), generating pulses with a frequency of 1 Hz; audio frequency generator (DD2.2, DD2.3) and counter (DD3).

Time relay with trip indication

To start the time relay, you must press the SB 1.1 button, which is paired with the mains switch, thereby discharging the capacitor C1. After releasing the button, the timer will start to work. The capacitor C1 will be charged through the resistor R2 or the chain R3 - R5 (this depends on the position of the switch SB2). As soon as the voltage at the inputs DD1.1 reaches the switching threshold, the output of the element will appear logic level "1" and start the generator on the elements DD1.3, DD2.1. At the output of DD2.1, pulses with a clock frequency of 1 Hz will follow.

The key on the transistor VT1 is needed to control the VD1 LED, which will flash at the same frequency. Pulses with a frequency of 1 Hz also control the audio frequency generator. An amplifier on a transistor VT2 is necessary to match the output of DD2.3 with a telephone capsule BF. The generator generates pulses with a frequency of about 1 kHz. To delay the shutdown, which warn VD1 and BF, is the counter DD3. Clock pulses are fed to its input C. Capacitor C4 and resistor R7 are necessary to set the counter to zero.

After the fifteenth pulse arrives, a logical "1" will appear at the output of the counter and, through the inverter DD1.2, will close VT3, thereby turning off relay K1, and it, in turn, will turn off the load and power of the time relay. If necessary, extend the shutdown delay time outputs DD1.2 can be connected to pin 12 of the counter DD3. In this case, the delay will be 31 pulses, that is, 31 seconds. In mode "1" exposure is from 3 to 40 minutes, in mode "2" - 40 - 80 minutes and in mode "3" - 80 - 120 minutes.

The time relay uses resistors MLT-0,125, MLT-0,25, capacitors K50-35, MBM or KM. Transistors VT1 and VT2 - any of the series KT315, VT3 - KT602, KT815. Microcircuits can be replaced with K561LA9, DD3 - with another similar counter, but you will have to change the drawing of the printed circuit board. Phone capsule BF - any with a winding resistance of 100 - 1000 Ohm. Switches SB1 - type P2K without fixation, SB2 - P2K for 3 switching groups.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Atomic transistor 26.09.2005

British physicists have made a transistor controlled by a single atom.

A transistor is an electronic device with three pins. Two of them are included in the electric current transmission network, and a control signal is applied to the third, which either allows the current to flow between the first two, or prohibits it.

As physicists from the University of Liverpool, led by Professor Werner Hofer, have shown, such a device can be built from a molecule and a single atom.

To do this, a layer of hydrogen atoms was applied to the surface of a silicon wafer, and it became an insulator. Then styrene molecules were placed on it, which lined up in lines up to hundreds of nanometers long. Next, hydrogen was pulled from one of the silicon atoms located next to such a line, and an electric charge formed on it. After that, it only remained to attach two probes of an atomic force microscope to the ends of the molecule and pass a current between them.

It turned out that by varying the charge on silicon, it is possible to change the current strength tenfold.
