The manipulator is an integral and, perhaps, the most difficult element of an electronic telegraph key to manufacture. The version of the manipulator, which our regular author offers to the attention of the readers of the magazine, can be made from improvised materials at home, with minimal locksmith skills.

The design of the manipulator is shown in fig. 1 (top view) and fig. 2 (side view).

Sketches of parts (with the exception of pin 10 and spring 11) are shown in fig. 3.

The base is plate 1 made of steel, brass or copper. Light alloys should not be used for this purpose, since for a light manipulator it will be necessary to introduce elements of its fastening to the table, which is not always acceptable.

Parts 3 and 2, made of a duralumin corner with dimensions 3x25 mm, are fixed on the base with M25 screws.

Manipulator control levers 4 can be made of sheet steel or phosphor bronze. They are bent and attached to corners 2 and 3 with an M3 screw with a nut, as well as a 10 M3x40 mm threaded stud and nuts. A mounting tab is placed under the M3 screw, to which the common wire of the manipulator is subsequently soldered.

The leashes 9 are made of insulating material and are attached to the manipulator control levers through blocks with 8 screws M3 with nuts. The pads are also made of insulating material.

Contacts 7 are used from a relay type RPS-4 or RPS-5. They are fixed on a textolite strip 5. Parts 5 and 6, with the same linear dimensions, differ in thickness (1,5 and 6 mm, respectively) and in that. that part 6 has holes located closer to the center of the bar, have a diameter of 6,2 ... 6.5 mm. When assembling the manipulator, fixing nuts and mounting petals of contacts 7 are sunk into these holes.

The rigidity of the control levers is adjusted by rotating the round nuts 12. They move in the axial direction along the threaded stud 10, compressing and expanding the springs 11. Springs can be used from ballpoint pens or any other with an inner diameter of 3,5 ... 4 mm. The length of the springs is 10 ... 12 mm.

The assembled and adjusted manipulator is placed in a casing made of foil fiberglass. The sketch of the casing is shown in fig. 4.

The casing rests on four threaded posts 13 and 14 (it is shorter than the post 13 by 6,5 mm). The appearance of the manipulator in the case is shown in fig. 5.

The manufacturing of the manipulator does not require any turning or milling work, and the round part 12 can be made, for example, from an old coin with a diameter of 30...32 mm. drilling a hole in it and cutting a thread.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

DC/DC Boost LED Drivers Mean Well LDH-25/65 31.03.2021

Mean Well has expanded its popular LDH DC/DC boost LED driver family with two new lower and higher power series, LDH-25 and LDH-65, respectively. The features of the new series are the universal input (9,5...32 V) and the ability to work from the input voltage of both 12 and 24 V with an increase in the output voltage to the appropriate level. In these series there is no special division into separate 12V and 24V versions, as in the LDH-45.

Structurally, the drivers are available in two different versions: for mounting on a printed circuit board (DIP package) and for bulk mounting (with wires; suffix "W" in the name). All models have a control input and are smoothly dimmed by a 0...10 V signal, PWM in the range of 10-100%, and the dimming signal maintains the full extinction of the LEDs (off). Models of the LDH-25 series are manufactured with output currents of 250/350/500/700mA, while models of the LDH-65 series are available with 700/1050/1400/1750mA.

The new series have a high efficiency and are applicable for the manufacture of economical LED lamps powered by autonomous current sources (batteries, solar panels), including for transport.
