The electronic watchman performs the functions of blocking the ignition system, turning on an audible alarm signal when trying to find the system code or when trying to turn on the ignition. A schematic diagram of an electronic watchman with connection circuits on a car is shown in fig. 1.

Electronic watchman

The return of the watchman to its original state after operation is carried out by briefly breaking circuit 2 with the secret button SB1.

Main technical characteristics:

  • Supply voltage: for car watchman, V.......12
  • for motorcycle guard, V.......6
  • Current consumption in armed mode.......none
  • Ambient temperature, °С....... from -40 to +60
  • Overall dimensions, mm......120x49x35

The device consists of the following nodes:

  • thyristor VS3 blocking the ignition system;
  • thyristor VS1, which includes a sound signal;
  • a code device consisting of a socket X2 and a plug X1 (key);
  • blocking thyristors VS4, VS2;
  • protection elements VD1, VD2, R1, R3, R4, C1.

All the nodes and elements listed above are located in the housing of the electronic unit, the diagram of which is circled in Fig. 1 by a dotted line. The remaining elements of the circuit, except for the SB1 button, are standard equipment of the car: SA1 - ignition switch, Pr - breaker, C2 - breaker capacitor.

When the ignition is switched on with switch SA1 and the key (socket X1) of the code device is correctly installed, as shown in the diagram, the supply voltage is supplied only to the thyristor VS3. The thyristor opens and connects power to the ignition coil. The serial connection of the KU201A thyristor with an ignition coil causes a voltage drop on it of about 2 V, which is undesirable, since this can make it difficult to start a cold engine in the winter season.

When the key (plug) of the code device is removed, power is not supplied to the VS3 thyristor and the ignition coil and the engine cannot be started.

When trying to select a code without a regular key, plus power is supplied to one of the slots 2-5 of the socket of the code device connected to the control electrode of the thyristor VS4. As a result, the thyristor VS4 opens and a positive voltage is applied to the control electrodes of the thyristors, VS1 and VS2. Thyristor VS1 switches and turns on the sound signal VA of the car. Thyristor VS2 remains in the off state, since there is no positive voltage on its anode. If, as a result of continued attempts to select the code, a positive voltage enters sockets 6 or 7, the thyristor VS2 will switch and shunt the control electrode of the thyristor VS3, while the latter remains in the off state. As a result, the ignition coil remains de-energized. After that, even if the "master key" is used, the horn will continue to work and the ignition coil will remain de-energized.

To turn off the sound signal, it is necessary to briefly break the circuit between contact 1 of the device and ground using the SB2 secret push-button switch. When this circuit breaks, thyristors VS1. VS2 and VS4 turn off and thyristor VS3 turns on. The sound signal stops working, and the supply voltage is supplied to the ignition coil.

The electronic watchdog circuit for a motorcycle differs in +6 V supply voltage and resistor values.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Exciton transistor 21.07.2008

US scientists want to directly convert an electrical signal into light.

"In microelectronics, there is one unpleasant contradiction: calculations are carried out using electrons, and signals are transmitted over long distances using photons. A lot of time and energy are spent on the corresponding transformations. We tried to eliminate this contradiction," says Leonid Batov from the University of California at San Francisco. Diego. To do this, they created an exciton transistor.

An exciton is a quasiparticle that consists of an electron and a hole bound together. Such quasiparticles can be created, for example, in gallium arsenide cooled to 40K by shining a laser with a certain wavelength on it. An exciton does not live long and, when decaying, gives up the energy stored in it in the form of a quantum of light.

Physicists led by Batov have learned not only to create excitons, but also to lock them with the help of an electric field in quantum walls. And you can release excitons by changing the voltage on the electrodes of the microcircuit. Thus, the whole device works like a real transistor, where the electrons move or do not move depending on what voltage is applied to the control electrode. Here, they actually control the movement of photons, into which excitons turn, as soon as they leave the quantum wall.

If it is possible to raise the operating temperature of the semiconductor, such a device will find wide application for the rapid exchange of information between computers, as well as between microcircuits, which in this case will have to be connected not by electric wires, but by optical fibers.
