ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RADIO ELECTRONICS AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Antenna Tetra. Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering / Television antennas The figure shows a television antenna with a pipe-mast protruding from the roof ridge (the total length of the pipe is 2 m) and metal braces attached to the roof. Since the antenna can satisfactorily receive signals from any direction, it can be used if the desired signal is large enough and the level of interference is relatively small. The antenna resembles an inverted package of milk ("tetrapack"): on top of the mast there is a strong equilateral triangle DAB, fixed on a metal mast at point A (its plane is perpendicular to the mast). The length of each side of the triangle is 500 mm. The DB side of the triangle is broken, where the cable is connected. Elements ED and EB must have electrical contact with point E and with a triangle at points D and B; if necessary, they can be made of wire with a diameter of 3 ... 5 mm, bending the DAB triangle to the mast during the manufacturing process; then, straightening up, he will pull the wire elements, which will ensure the rigidity of the structure. If "ferrous" metals are used, they should be cleaned to a shine with sandpaper and painted with a solution of bitumen in gasoline (kerosene). After painting, electrical contacts are sealed with building sealant. The need to install an insulator in the GV section (20 ... 30 mm) depends on the rigidity of the structure. The coaxial cable is soldered with a central core to point G, braided to point B, and fixed to the antenna with a bandage of nylon thread or fishing line. There are two cable routing options: - to improve the image quality on 1...5 TV channels - from point B to point B, then to point E and down inside the pipe; - to improve the image quality on 6 ... 60 TV channels - from point C to point B, then to point A and to point E, then down inside the pipe. If the antenna will be used only for operation on the UHF, then it is recommended to reduce the sides of the DAB triangle to 400 mm. Stretch marks EI, E3, EK have a length of 1,3 ± 0,2 m. They should be considered as part of the antenna. The number of stretch marks and their position is selected according to the best image on all TV channels. On the balcony, the mast is attached to the railing without stretch marks. You can try to change the cable route symmetrically shown in the figure. But at the same time, the braid must be connected to point G, and the central core of the cable to point B. This can be achieved either by soldering the cable, or by disassembling the antenna and turning the DAB triangle over (if welding was not used during assembly). Using welding, it is worth making an antenna of a slightly modified design. The mast section AE should be removed; its place will be taken by the plane of the DEB triangle, and the plane of the DAB triangle will become perpendicular to the DEB plane and the EZhL mast (outwardly, it looks like a children's "slingshot"). If necessary, you can install an antenna amplifier at point E (or at L). Author: N. Gorovoy, Smolensk; Publication: N. Bolshakov, rf.atnn.ru See other articles Section Television antennas.
