Use of local lighting in the kitchen. As a rule, our kitchens are illuminated by a single light source - a lampshade or chandelier hanging somewhere under the ceiling, in its middle.

Most often, such a general-purpose lamp does not illuminate the work table well - when the housewife is preparing dinner, she blocks the work area on the stove from the light.

Such a lamp is also inconvenient when the family gathers at the dining table (usually standing near a window or wall) - it illuminates not the table, but the center of the kitchen. As a result, for normal lighting of the work and dining tables, high-power lamps have to be screwed into the chandelier, which causes increased energy consumption.

Much more comfortable conditions can be created in the kitchen using local lighting. First of all, instead of a multi-arm chandelier, it makes sense to hang a lampshade in this room, placing it directly above the center of the dining table - to do this, you just need to drill a hole in the ceiling and screw a hook into it.

In this case, it is not at all necessary to ditch the ceiling and lay hidden wiring - it is enough to cover the standard hook and the wire outlet with a suitable cap (in particular, I purchased two identical white funnels for this purpose at a hardware store and cut off their narrowed parts) and connect the lamp's wires to the electrical wiring using a spiral-twisted cord.

Now you should take care of the hostess - provide her with more comfortable lighting in her work areas. To do this, you will have to purchase several fluorescent lamps and install them on the lower planes of the wall cabinets.

Use of local lighting in the kitchen: A - lighting of the dining table; B - lighting of work areas; B - ceiling lighting

If the light hits not only the workspace, but also your eyes, you will have to make a so-called apron - for this you can use a suitable aluminum profile, a wooden frame, or simply a board sanded and coated with parquet varnish. Using fluorescent lamps will also reduce energy consumption in your apartment.

And one last thing. In many cases, local lighting is not needed in the kitchen - general diffused light is sufficient. You can get it by mounting several sockets with flanges under the ceiling, above the wall cabinets, and screwing lamps with mirror bulbs into them, which will brightly illuminate the ceiling, which will illuminate the kitchen itself.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Compact medical power supplies Mean Well RPS-120 and RPS-200 07.10.2016

Mean Well has expanded its RPS family of medical power supplies. Power supplies of the RPS-120 and RPS-200 series are now available with 120 and 200 W respectively. A feature of the new power supplies is their compactness (only 102x51x29 mm).

Power supplies have ultra-low leakage current (less than 190 µA) and meet the 2xMOPP level in terms of safety, i.e. can be used in medical devices that have direct contact with the patient.

RPS-120 and RPS-200 are produced in two modifications: in open design and in a protective casing (RPS-120-C, RPS-200-C series). Power supplies have a full range of protective measures against short circuit, overload, overvoltage and overheating; characterized by increased efficiency (up to 91/94%) and low power consumption at idle (less than 0,3 W / 0,5 W).

It should be noted that full power operation requires external forced cooling (10CFM), for which the power supplies have an additional 12V/0,5A output. Without forced cooling, the load power must be reduced to 70% of the rated power. The general temperature range of new series of power supplies is -30°С...+70°С. The RPS-200 series has a power factor correction circuit. Power supplies are designed for various medical devices and installations in direct contact with the patient, where small dimensions and high efficiency are important.

Main technical parameters of RPS-120(C), RPS-200(C):

Output power 120W, 200W
Output voltage from a range of 12, 15, 24, 27, 48 V
Auxiliary output 12V/0,5A
Input voltage range 80-264V (AC) / 113-370V (DC)
Efficiency (typ.) 90%; 93%
KM>0.95 (only for RPS-200(C))
Temperature range -30°С...+70°С (with dependence)
Overall dimension (LxWxH) 101,6x50,8x29 mm (RPS-120/200); 103,4x62x40mm (RPS-120-C)/200-C)
Manufacturer's warranty 3 years
