In the blocks for the formation of a single-sideband signal, the load of the ring balanced modulator is often an electromechanical filter (EMF). In this case, when the sideband changes due to the change in the frequency of the reference oscillator, the carrier frequency suppression generally deteriorates.
The option of including EMF in a balanced modulator, proposed by UB5CE, is free from this disadvantage.
Coil L1 should have an inductance of about 1,8 mH. It can be wound on a ferrite ring with a magnetic permeability of 1000 (60 turns of PELSHO 0.1 wire). The tap is made from the middle.
