It is used in summer cottages and in disadvantaged private sectors, when filling a tank with water using a pump, it is very convenient to assemble an automation circuit.

Water pump control
Fig. 1

The circuit consists of a 220/12 volt step-down transformer, a rectifier bridge made of D226B diodes, three contactors with a 12 volt coil, and three water levels.

Yiwu - the upper water level at which the pump is switched off.

SU - medium level, the pump is in operation, water fills the tank.

WELL - lower level, the pump continues to fill the tank, but the water flow is faster than the inflow, it is necessary to reduce the water flow and check the pump's serviceability.

In the control of contactors, it is applied safe voltage 12 volts.

After rectifying the voltage, minus serve on the body of a metal tank.

If the tank is made of another material, we lower a metal strip or profile along the inner wall with a cross section of at least 100 mm2

positive potential connect to contacts A1, contactor coils K1 (VU), K2 (SU) and K3 (WELL)

Second contact A2, connect to water level sensors.

Water level sensor made of flexible copper wire with a cross section of at least 6 mm2 with waterproof insulation (for example KG), at the end of which we attach a metal plate.

Sensors are installed at three water levels.

Upwhere it is necessary to stop filling the tank.

Bottom, to turn off the pump in case of water leakage from the tank or failure of the electric pump.

Average, is set below half the volume of the tank, to trigger an alarm at high water flow and low inflow, possibly due to damage to the pump.

Water pump control
Fig. 2

Consider a 220 volt pump control circuit using 12 volt sensors.

So our water tank is empty, the circuits are assembled correctly, the sensors are installed.

Push the button START, the pump turns on, the water fills up, you have to hold it for a while until the water reaches the lower level

Set the lower sensor to about 10 parts of the tank volume

Upon reaching the lower level, the pump will turn on, the light and sound alarms will turn on, the start button can be released.

Will work contactor K3, will close its open contact K3 and chain contactor K6, which in turn closes its contact K6 shunting the START button will turn on the pump.

You will have to wait a bit for the alarm to work until the water is filled to an average level.

Set the middle sensor to about 30 parts of the container volume.

When the tank is filled to an average level, the alarm is turned off, the pump continues to work, the indicator light for the average water level is on.

Turns on contactor K2, closes open contact K2, chain contactor K5, opens closed contact K2 chain contactor K6 and alarms.

Contactor K5 will close his contact K5, the pump continues to fill the container.

The tank will be filled to the upper level, set at 90 parts of the volume, after which the pump will turn off, indicating by a light alarm that the tank is full.

Turns on contactor K1, closes open contact K1, chain contactor K4, opens closed contact K1, chain contactor K5 the pump has turned off

Included contactor K4 opens closed contact K4, chain contactor K6, to prevent low level activation and alarm.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

All the chemical ingredients of life found on Enceladus 25.12.2022

Phosphorus, a key component of DNA and RNA molecules, has been discovered in the ocean of Saturn's moon. It is now known that Enceladus has all the basic elements that make up biomolecules - everything necessary for the emergence of life.

Enceladus is one of the major moons of Saturn. Its surface is covered with a thick layer of ice, from the faults of which geysers are knocked out from time to time, indicating that there, at a depth, there is a fairly large ocean of liquid water. This makes Enceladus one of the most promising places to look for extraterrestrial life. This possibility is also indicated by the analysis of its water. Both methane and more complex organic molecules appear in it.

Over the years of research, compounds of hydrogen and oxygen, carbon, nitrogen and sulfur have been found in the geysers of Enceladus - almost all the ingredients that make up biomolecules. And recently, the last element was added to this list, phosphorus, which serves as a key component of nucleic acids. This was announced by Yasuhito Sekine, who spoke at a recent meeting of the American Geophysical Society (AGU) in Chicago.

Sekine and colleagues at the Tokyo Institute of Technology used data from the Cassini probe. Working in the Saturn system, the device collected information about the chemical composition of not only the planet and satellites, but also its brilliant rings. In this case, scientists were interested in the substances of the E ring, where the substance thrown out by the geysers of Enceladus falls. Among them were particles exceptionally rich in sodium phosphate.

Judging by their quantity, the subglacial ocean on the satellite can contain this substance in concentrations from one to 20 millimoles, which is orders of magnitude higher than in the Earth's oceans, where phosphorus is an element that is extremely scarce and in demand. The authors of the work suggest that on Enceladus it enters the water from the bottom, when apatites dissolve in it, which are found in abundance in some meteorites, which means that they were in the early solar system when the satellite was formed.

The find makes Enceladus an even more fascinating and promising place in terms of finding traces of extraterrestrial life. Perhaps this will speed up work on such projects, including the ESA mission, so far scheduled to launch only after 2035.
