Any television surveillance system includes three functional parts:

- video cameras;

- equipment for processing video information;

- monitors.

According to the method of receiving and processing video information, there are:

- traditional television surveillance systems based on specialized equipment;

- computer systems for television surveillance.

The television surveillance system is designed to visualize video information about the operational situation at the controlled facility. To solve this problem, in accordance with the characteristics of the objects, the system parameters are selected.

The main factors that determine the composition of the television surveillance system include:

- the number of controlled objects;

- speed of system reaction;

- cost;

- ease of management and the ability to work in a slave mode;

- reliability.

The parameters of the elements of the television surveillance system are selected in accordance with the characteristics of the objects:

- dimensions;

- average distance;

- speed of movement;

- lighting conditions.

In television surveillance systems, the maximum number of simultaneously operating cameras is not limited and is determined in each specific case by the ratio of the number of monitors and the capabilities of devices for processing video information.

Usually, the image from most of the cameras is viewed simultaneously, and from the rest - in the paging mode.

Sophisticated television surveillance systems make it possible to obtain a video image of many points of the protected object on television or computer monitors. Monitors and video signal processing equipment are installed in duty rooms or at the company's employees in charge of the security service. In computer systems, a maximum of 16 cameras are displayed on one monitor. With a larger number of cameras, the sizes of individual images are greatly reduced, and the video channels are switched in the mode of scrolling in blocks of up to 16 cameras at the same time.

The visibility of the operational situation is higher in systems with a large number of monitors, since it is possible to display all the cameras normally at the same time.

The speed of processing video information is close to real-time processing and, with the optimal composition of the means involved for this purpose, does not depend on the number of cameras.

In computer systems, the speed of processing video information decreases in proportion to the increase in the number of cameras. More quickly the equipment reacts to the actions of the operator in traditional systems. Digital processing methods allow you to improve the video image, filter noise, highlight and explore individual details.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Add Magnesium to the Car Body 04.01.2006

Thin rolled steel, from which car bodies are made, is coated with a layer of zinc to protect against corrosion.

Engineers from the Dortmund Center for Surface Physics (Germany) found that it is possible to significantly enhance the anti-corrosion properties of such a coating if magnesium is added to zinc.

In a pilot plant built at the Dortmund Center, a 7-micrometer-thick zinc-coated steel strip passes at a rate of meters per second through a vacuum chamber where magnesium vapor is blown over it. Locks are installed at the entrance and exit of the chamber, the air from which is pumped out by powerful pumps so that it does not penetrate into the chamber. Zinc is covered with a layer of magnesium a few nanometers thick. After additional heat treatment, magnesium atoms diffuse into the zinc surface. The resulting layer is more than ten times more resistant than conventional zinc coating.

In a special chamber, where a fog is created from a five percent solution of common salt (imitation of conditions on a winter road), galvanized steel after five days of stay is almost completely covered with rust.

Magnesium-zinc coating shows the first signs of corrosion only after 50 days. The work is funded by German automotive firms.
