Protective disconnect devices designed to protect against electric shock to people working with electrical installations of alternating current. Currently, a large number of protective shutdown schemes have been developed. Technical characteristics of some devices used in networks with grounded neutral are given in Table. 12.

Technical characteristics of protective and disconnecting devices for mobile and portable current collectors

In networks with grounded and isolated neutral, it is possible to use ZOUP-25 protective and disconnecting devices, designed for a consumer current of up to 25 A at a voltage of 380 V; protection setting - 10 mA, shutdown time - 0,05 s, weight - 4,5 kg. When working with power tools of single-phase current with a total power of 0,5 kW at 220 V, ZOU-1 protective shutdown devices are used. For electric welding, the device of the USNT-4 type is the most promising. When connecting a three-phase motor to a single-phase network using capacitors, it must be taken into account that the rated voltage of capacitors of the KBG-MN and BGT types is given for their operation at direct current. When they work on alternating current, the value of the allowable voltage should not exceed the values \u13b\uXNUMXbspecified in Table. XNUMX.

If a three-phase motor is connected to a single-phase network according to the scheme (see Fig. 98, b), then the starting torque will be almost half that when switched on according to another scheme (see Fig. 98, a). To change the direction of movement of the rotor (reversal) of an electric motor connected according to the scheme (see Fig. 98, b), it is necessary to swap the conclusions C2 and C5 of the starting winding. Before reversing, the motor must be disconnected from the mains.

The value of starting active resistances is determined according to the table. 14 depending on the power of the electric motor in three-phase mode.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Vegetarian sharks 10.01.2018

Scientists have found that shovel sharks (distant relatives of hammerhead fish) can eat algae and even gain weight quite well on a "green" diet.

Sharks are known as one of the most dangerous marine predators that are not averse to feasting on humans. However, scientists have found that not all sharks are radical meat eaters: some of them, as it turned out, love greens. For example, Sphyrna tiburo, also known as the shovel shark or small hammerhead fish, which often hunts in shallow water, prefers shrimp, small crabs and small fish that live in kelp beds. In 2007, researchers found something strange in the intestines of one of these sharks: instead of the inhabitants of the marine "jungle", there were only algae themselves.

To find out why, a graduate student placed several sharks in a salt water tank and kept them on a diet that was 90% seagrass and only 10% squid. After the sharks were given three "vegetarian" meals a day for three weeks, it turned out that they all gained weight. What's more, the study found that more than 50% of the algae were eventually digested successfully: it was previously thought that creatures with short guts, like the shovel shark and its relatives, simply could not absorb fibrous food.

Scientists believe that it's all about the colonies of symbiont bacteria, which, like you and me, live in the intestines of sharks and help them better absorb plant foods.
