Name
All things should have a name and I decided to name my sub, more precisely, figure out how to name this sub model (it’s just that this homemade sub is not my first and not the last), so I decided, so come up with a name. The name should reflect some of the main technical. characteristics and the first option was 52w2dl (XXwYdZ).
Where XX - power w - watts Y - number of speakers d - speakers Z - speaker frequency (l - LF m - MF n - HF a - broadband). But then I changed the labeling, because the first one could not tell about the AU in full. The second and final version is 52wSUB2L-2 (AAwBBBCD-E). Where AA - AC power w - watts BBB - AC type (Sub - subwoofer Sat-satellite) C - number of speakers D - speaker frequency l - LF m - MF n - HF a - broadband) and E - resistance.
Costs
Because I live in Belarus, then our prices are different. I will quote here prices in Belarusian rubles and US dollars.
- Speakers (2 pieces, speaker parameters will be given below) - 70 rubles. (000$)
- I didn’t have to buy plywood 10mm 150x45 cm in the basement, but such a piece costs 27 rubles in the store. (500$)
- Glue (For gluing the sound absorber to the walls of the case) - 560 rubles. ($0.25)
- Cotton wool 150 g - 1 rubles ($650)
- Film for pasting the case 150x45 cm - 4 rubles. (650$)
- Clamp connector 1 500 rub. (0.7$)
- Wires for internal wiring 1m 2.5mm 1 250 rub. ($0.45)
- Coil and capacitor (for low-pass filter) 800 rubles. (0.3$)
Well, that's all, according to the results, the total costs amounted to 107 rubles. ($910). Good price for a homemade sub. Such category and power.
Speakers
The speaker options are:
- Rated power 30 W
- Maximum power 100W
- Diffuser diameter 14 cm
- Xmax 12mm
- Resonance frequency 29 Hz
- Effective frequency range (FR) 28 - 5 Hz
- Full frequency response 18 - 16 Hz
- Weight of one speaker 1.5 kg
- Diffuser material thick black cardboard
- Coil diameter 20 mm
- Speaker dimensions 16 cm diameter, ~ 9 - 11 cm depth
- resistance 4 ohm
Well, that's all I know, I don't know the name of the model, but I only know the manufacturer, it's BLAUPUNKT.
Filter
Well, what can I say about the second-order filter, put a 4A fuse. Well, see the rest in the diagram (Fig. 1)
Since there are few parts, the filter can be made according to a hinged scheme (without a board). The fuse is best done on the connector. If you often listen to music at high volume, the fuse may blow. The circuit can be supplemented by adding an overload indicator (Fig. 2) and something else, for which there is still enough mind.
R1 is selected by random. The principle of operation is as follows, when the power going to the speakers exceeds 52W, the HLR1 LED starts to glow. C2 is needed in order for the indicator to glow for as long as possible so that you can notice this overload and reduce the volume on the amplifier, it is best to take the capacitance of capacitor C2 200 - 2200 uF x 40 V. What else to add to the filter, I don’t know, you can try bi -wiring for a subwoofer would be funny.
Chassis
I made the case from 10mm plywood (I know that the walls are thin for a subwoofer and vibrate a little when playing, but there was no other way, and spending 40 rubles ($ 000) on a chipboard sheet the same size as the piece of plywood I used was would be stupid, since it would give little effect, but the price would become much more instead of $ 18, the sub would cost $ 50). The drawing of the sub is visible in fig. 68.
The type of acoustic design that I have chosen is a closed box (CB). only this type of design fits the parameters of the speakers. The volume of the box was calculated and amounted to 20.7 liters. This corresponds to the dimensions HxWxD 21x43x23cm. Inside the walls of the case are upholstered with cotton wool, its thickness was about 5 mm, cotton wool was glued to the "super moment" glue.
frequency response
In the case, the reproducible frequency range turned out to be 22 - 780 Hz (Fig. 4).
I cannot guarantee the accuracy of the frequency response. I shot it not with a special microphone, but with an ordinary one, and therefore there may be inaccuracies, but small <10%.
Listening
The sound of the sub is decent. I experienced the sound quality on familiar tracks that I had previously listened to without a subwoofer. The sound reproduced by the subwoofer turns out to be quite good and dense (a merit of SG). The only thing that spoils the overall picture is that the frequency range of the sub that it reproduces loud enough to be heard is 22 - 780 Hz and as you probably remember the resonance frequency of the speakers is 29 Hz so when the sub plays this frequency there is a clear rise and rumble. But this can be eliminated by adding a sound absorber, but I don’t have time to redo the sub.
Technical X-Ki of the finished sub:
Rated power ................................... 52 W
Maximum power ............................... 110 W
Frequency response .............................. 22 - 780 Hz
Signal / Noise ............................................... >= 60 dB
Speaker cone diameter ................... 2x14 cm

Artificial leather for touch emulation
15.04.2024
In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men
14.04.2024
The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>
