I started with a fitting: after two paper layouts, it became quite clear that there could be only one acceptable shape for the lower part. Therefore, I cut out the bottom of the podium, the ring for the speaker and the side struts from 8 mm plywood. By the way, I note that I cut out all the details at once in duplicate - it’s much easier to customize them, and when grinding it’s easier to keep right angles.
I assembled the power structure using PVA and 20mm studs. She's pretty solid on her own...
In the foreground, you can see a cutout for the protruding part of the standard pocket.
Now about the door pocket. I immediately abandoned the idea of making it again from plywood - the standard plastic one is quite good. Therefore, I unscrewed it from the skin and filed it in such a way that it fit exactly to the base of the podium.
